Unlocking Self Reliance: our Year Round Food Plan with a Greenhouse Dome!

This was part of our homestead plan from the beginning, to be able to grow our own food and become more self reliant. Turns out, living over 9000ft (high elevation) in Colorado makes it quite difficult to achieve this dream. Between the weather extremes, a short growing season and wildlife at every turn, growing food in the Rocky mountains has been a challenge. Enter the Greenhouse Dome from Growing Spaces! This option is going to be a game changer. Join us as we tour the facility and plan our self sufficient homestead!

  1. I realize these videos take time to get them out, but when you get your dome in, try to show as much including explaining your decisions on everything. I think that would be very interesting to growers.

  2. 👍 Very nice. 8 months with no greenery to enjoy, whew! Having one just for that alone would be well worth it for the mental ease, as well as something to help keep you busy during those months as it may be a little Eden, but also a hell of a lot of work, including keeping the water "healthy" if you will, but aquatic plants help keep it filtered. Your plants are gonna' grow like nuts using that fish emulsion water! Good luck and look forward to seeing it. The ICF idea is spot on! The geothermal piping is $$$, it takes a lot of pipe underground to do any good. That portion will probably be as expensive as the dome unless you DIY which I'm sure you will.

  3. Great video and thanks for sharing 👍 keep us posted on which 1 you choose and why, curious about power and water usage also..

  4. Don't know if any has asked, what are the snow load ratings for the dome. I'm guessing you get a lot of snow at 9,000'?
