Gary Pilarchik: How to Prune/Remove Your Excess Tomato Seedlings in Seed Cells: Keep the Strongest – MFG 2014

Typically you remove extra seedlings from a single cell so that there is only the strongest left. This is true for tomatoes. You want a tomato with height and a sturdy stem. It is really best to cut the unwanted seedlings as not to disturb the roots of the seedling you are keeping pulling out the wanted. You will actually do more harm leaving to many seedlings in a small space.
