Lettuce Cultivation – From Seed to Salad

– Hydroponic Nutrient Solution Composition:
When preparing a nutrient solution for hydroponic lettuce, you need to ensure that it contains essential macro and micronutrients required for healthy plant growth. The following ratios are approximate guidelines:

– Macronutrients:
Nitrogen (N): 150-200 ppm (parts per million)
Phosphorus (P): 50-80 ppm
Potassium (K): 150-200 ppm

– Secondary Nutrients:
Calcium (Ca): 100-200 ppm
Magnesium (Mg): 30-50 ppm
Sulfur (S): 20-30 ppm

– Micronutrients:
Iron (Fe): 2-5 ppm
Manganese (Mn): 0.5-2 ppm
Zinc (Zn): 0.5-1 ppm
Copper (Cu): 0.1-0.5 ppm
Boron (B): 0.5-1 ppm
Molybdenum (Mo): 0.05-0.2 ppm

– Provide Light:
If growing indoors, set up appropriate grow lights. Lettuce requires around 12-16 hours of light per day.
Position the lights at an appropriate distance from the plants to prevent stretching or burning.

– Maintain Air Circulation:
Good air circulation is important to prevent mold and disease growth. If growing indoors, consider using fans to ensure air movement.

Remember that successful hydroponic growing requires careful monitoring and adjustment of nutrient levels, pH, and other environmental factors. Regular maintenance and attention to detail will contribute to the healthy growth of your lettuce plants.
