Here on my channel, I am renovating a 250 year old stone cottage on my property in Normandy, France. By using traditional, low-waste and off-grid methods, I’m aiming to keep the charm and character of this old building, and turn it into a furnished, finished home for family whilst keeping environmental impact as low as possible. There will also be content on living in France, visiting beautiful rural places, hunting for antiques, gardening and more! Hit subscribe if you would like to keep up with my journey, and hit the notification bell to be alerted when we go LIVE where we have a first viewing of the video as it is published with a live chat so I can answer all your questions! See you in Sean’s World.

  1. Good morning from South Africa 🇿🇦 😊. You could let a beautiful creeper that flowers grow over the pérgula, that would cover the clear roof and that would make shade for the kitchen and would cover a not too eye catching roof.
I use boiling water over my bricked areas to kill the bad weeds and it kills them. No poisonous products and very cheap.

  2. The weathers not doing you any favours Sean. I love what you’ve done with the pavers 👍

  3. When you do your outdoor kitchen, can you maybe condense it into a single video? Definitely something I would watch. Great ideas Sam, looking forward. to your KitCam. Sean, you are getting so quick in laying the pavers!! LOL👍

  4. Oh wow, those chairs are lovely! What a great job with the tidy up and the paving blocks. Great tutorial on insulation. You and Sam are both so genuine.

  5. Sean the front of the cottage looks so much more inviting now that you've done all the block work. I know Sam is pleased with how it looks as most women like things nice and neat instead of cluttered with misc. all over the place. We've had a lot of severe weather here also, a tree fell on our daughters house back in June, she is living with us right now because her home isn't liveable, she is just waiting on the insurance company to condemn the house so she can rebuild. Lots of hugs, Kathy USA 🇺🇸

  6. LOL your wife comes up with ideas too. I thought that was only mine. 😁 By the way, Sean, have you ever tried our tea over here in the USA? Not the nasty Peach stuff but true southern sweet Iced tea.

  7. I like your new "Tea patio"!
I has a lovely view of your new window as well.
Maybe a large awning over that new window would provide some shade for your "Tea table"?

  8. Sorry about your tea Sean. You are in the punishment box. What you have done to the front already makes a huge difference.

  9. Absolutely loved❤ the chairs.. the colours.. I’m new to here.. looking forward to more..👍🦘🐨❤️

  10. If you permanently want to eradicate ivy, you have to dig up the root ball.

  11. I once tried to save a preying mantis f rom getting squashed on the side walk. I picked it up to move it to the side and the sucker bit me!!!! It was lucky I didn’t take revenge on it and squash it myself!!!

  12. I'm glad you saved the Praying Mantis, even though I am personally (granted, unreasonably) deathly afraid of the carnivorous things. And, yes, they are carnivores. As long as they stay away from me and out in the great outdoors, then that's fine, but I won't have those creepy things near me. I simply can't abide them. When I was a child, I watched a fully grown Praying Mantis scramble a couple of meters across the wood floor of a room and attack our Siamese cat. The thing rushed at the cat and grabbed a hold of the fur on the top of her head and one of her ears in it's dreadful pincerlike claws. The cat spun round and howled and tried to bat it off, to no avail. My mother had to grab the howling cat and all with a tea towel and yank the mantis loose. It was obvious that the insect that was the aggressor and the instigator of the attack. I witnessed the whole thing whilst standing on my mother's bed, plastered against the headboard, absolutely horrified. Nope. Not a mantis fan, myself.

  13. I must say, looking down your driveway now looks quite charming, especially with the outside chairs and table. Very nice. 👋🙂🇿🇦

  14. You are so lucky to have such a beautiful, smart wife. Sam has wonderful ideas. Thank you for this great video. A question for Sam . . . Will you tell us what's for dinner? We would love to watch you cook those outdoor kitchen meals you mentioned.

  15. Suggestion paint your pergola to bring out structure and need a grass area seen from your cute cottage – how about a grass pathway????

  16. You zre doing great work Sean and Sam has great ideas. I was wondering why you did not make this little patio not just that bit bigger so this would align with the othe path’s / patio’s along the house?

  17. What a beautiful pair of chairs Sam’s mom made. It looked very picturesque. It’s good to take a break where you can see the work you have accomplished. Give yourselves a big “pat on the backs”(🇺🇸). My Nanny might have called it “the stoop”. P.S. How is Freddy the Frog ?🤗😊

  18. You mentioned it is harder to find copper pieces… check out French Country Life.
I don’t know where she lives relative to you but the Brocantes etc. she visits seem to have a fair bit of copper pieces for sale.

  19. Those pathways/patio strips that you are making along your house wall are very decorative and useful. You have a beautiful wife, Sean.

  20. 🎉that is utterly amazing ❤it’s amazing you completely all that work during a surprise storm.
