Today I give you a full tour of every vegetable and flower growing in my suburban garden. I begin the video sharing the size of my garden, which is 58×48. I have 23 beds that are 23 feet long and 3 feet wide. I heavily mulch my paths and use various techniques to keep the weeds out of my garden. I am gardening in zone 7a/b .I share tips and tricks that I have learned over the last years that I have been learning to garden. I hope the joy that I share for gardening will inspire and encourage you to plant your own garden as well as encourage you to continue to spend time in your already established one.
As we walk through the summer garden, I explain the varieties I am growing and the amounts that I am growing. In the summer garden I show you my sweet potatoes, peppers, squash, zucchini, basil, tenderette beans, and three different varieties of corn. I discuss the various flowers and herbs I am using to companion plant. I hope you enjoy this look into my 2023 vegetable garden.

  1. I ask everyone who reads this comment, pray for East Texas. We havent had rain since Mid July and have had 100+ temperatures as well. When ever there is rain headed our way, it seems to evaporate when it gets to us. I have seen that happen and start up east of us. My garden has shriveled and I have condensed my growing area so I can water efficiently. I lost a hen on Thursday due to the heat. I must water every evening and give the hens water frozen in milk jugs and also veggies frozen in pie pans. Whole trees are shriveling up too. Im sure there are other places with dry conditions too.

  2. Hummers love salvia! They have been going crazy for the hyacinth bean flowers this year! Blessings…daisy

  3. I am amazed how well your 1st garden did. Congratulations on all the hard work and teaching your kids to help you. They are learning skills for life.
God bless you and your family. ❤

  4. I wonder if you ever researched The little machine to put in the ground that put off a sonic wave. Maybe that would keep the dear away if you put a few across the front of your yard or around the garden. I think they work for dear. Also I know they work for skunks and squirrels and stuff like that.

  5. Hello Bri, for all the seeds the critters ate you did have great success with the Sunnies🎉.
I finally got my Asian Long Beans to go up and over the Trellis this year YaY!
My first Potate plant just died in my greenstalk ,im so excited to see the harvest when I go out😍.
You did very well for your first Garden at your New Home🤗.
    I haven't had a Nasturtium Packet grow true yet😡.
I've saved them too but, this year they grew in a bush.
Hopefully the bush seeds will turn into vining🤭.
    JO JO IN VT 💞

  6. Think about the Tromboncino squash for next year. I love multipurpose plants. It can be harvested young and treated like zucchini or let it mature to be a winter squash that you can use for pies or like a butternut squash or candy roaster. I shredded the green ones and dehydrated, also froze some, and last year I used it to make zucchini relish, mock apple pie filling and mock pineapple. It’s more resistant to vine borers.

  7. Love the tour!!! Your garden has been wonderful for a 1st year plot!! So much work but a great return!!
God bless you and the kiddos!!🌻🙏🌻

  8. Hafa Adai from Guam, love your garden and everything you do on your channel, how amazing you are and such a strong woman for raising your kids as a single parent, blessings to you and your family. Hope Art is also doing well and hello to him as well.😊❤

  9. My corn didn't get very big we a couple times off of them the rest didn't get very big at all..😊

  10. Morning Bree
I just wanted you to know how much I love your videos. I am so glad you came back to YouTube ❣️

  11. Love, love love you miss bri. misses you, too, with arthur . sorry fro mentioning him. god blesses u and kids.

  12. Mint is allelopathic – the aromatic volatiles suppress competitors – so not a good companion planting for anything you have planned for next season in the greenhouse

  13. I feel for you dealing with all the weeds I plant in raised beds and I don't have an issue at all and I buy all my soil and stuff so I know what's in my soil and that's why I don't plant in the ground any more trying to fix it and dealing with deer and rabbits and all that

  14. Bri, not only does your garden radiate joy and fulfilment, so does your face when you are in it, or talking about it 🥰Your garden is like an old friend and is always welcome no matter if they are bearing gifts for you, or needing your help. Love your channel and your journey, thank you for sharing with, motivating and teaching us xxx

  15. I looked online and found a healthier version of breaded zucchini slices. Instead of frying, I bake them on parchment paper. Success!

  16. Yes the hummingbirds love flowers 🌺🌹🌼🌸💮🏵️🌻💐I love your flower garden very nice💖

  17. Your garden is lovely, Bri.
As far as I know, stevia is frosttender, or are there different varieties in the US?
Maybe you can overwinter some in the greenhouse or the kitchen?
    Greetings, Antje

  18. If you would love composting, this is an exciting time of year. Pull it all and wheelbarrow it into the pile. And it will help your future gardens.

  19. The same thing happened to Living Traditions with the Sunflowers. It was the variety. They dont grow very big.

  20. My grandfather had a garden and he would take us into it and pick a tomato for us to eat like an apple. Its my favorite childhood memory.
