It’s quite an admission when you say that you’re not so keen on the flowers! I absolutely appreciate them for their amazingly late show but generally I grow Ageratina altissima ‘Chocolate’ for its foliage not its flowers (also I’m pretty sure it used to be a Eupatorium until the nomenclaturists got at it). Its dark purple leaves look wonderful with blues and hot pinks as well as late flowering grasses. Usually lovers of quite moist soil this one hasn’t read the books and has grown to epic proportions even through this dry summer. Perhaps the manure mulch has something to do with that!
