Front Yard Garden

I replaced my grass lawn with native plants

I planted native plants in my “hellstrip” out front of my house and watched as many pollinators, insects, and birds returned. Because there is no parking on my street, I don’t have to worry about providing enough room for people to exit their vehicles. If you’re going to do this, make sure to follow your local municipality’s ordinances about vegetation near roadways.

  1. BUT NOBODY CAN GET OUTA THIER CAR WITHOUT GETTING STUNG.OUR CITY WONT ALLOW THIS.ITS CONSIDERED A BLOCKAGE.THEY WILL COME N CUT IT TO THE GROUND.NOTHING IS ALLOWED TO BE OVER 8 INCHES HIGH ALONG ROAD WAYS OR YOUR YARD …NEIGHBORS AND TRASH MEN WILL RAT YOU OUT TO TOWN COUNCIL.

  2. Please add a list of plants used. 🙏 I know it's in the video, but it is easier to reference in the description. 😍🌼 thank you!

  3. Wow! That is so beautiful. Much nicer a than green rug.🌻🐝🌾🐞💮🦋🌱🏵️🦟🌿🐛🌼🍁

  4. Please make more videos about this. I did something similar to my front lawn. I get regular compliments from my neighbors about how nice it looks. "It's so beautiful, every time I pass by there is something new". More and more of my neighbors are doing the same to their yards.

  5. So glad to see this happening as a trend. Show the bees we love them, and the world will be prettier for it.

  6. We live in a townhouse complex. This is what I've started to do this year. Looks wonderful and everyone wonders how my garden just keeps blooming. Focus on native plants. Love your idea and my garden.

  7. For those with HOAs some will let you do ground cover instead of sod. You can use local or compatible ground cover like clover that still support wildlife. ❤

  8. I tried doing that, and the city came and mowed everything down and wrote me an ordinance violation for having weeds.

  9. I had a neighbor do this many years ago. USPS refused to deliver mail as the mailmen kept getting stung. I would think some clover would make more sense. Yes. most HOAs don't want plants that block the view of your home. Planting these to the side or back of your home is generally better received and doesn't create as many problems.

  10. Reminds me of what Baetanical did with his devilstrip of red poppies and bachelor’s button🥹 so pwetty!

  11. I believe that area you call a hellstrip is actually called a parkway and is usually owned by the city. Property lines generally end at the sidewalk. In northern states it is where the plows push the snow. This 'tree-hugger' is not helping local property values.

  12. What an awesome idea! I'm definitely doing this next year. I'm in the process of replacing grass that constantly needs to be mowed with perennial flowers to help the bees and insects. I'm thrilled that I came across this channel❤

  13. A handful of plants really does nothing other than attract a few pollinators. Clover does just the same.

  14. Exactly !!!!!!! Plant flowers or food or both !!!!! Utilize every inch of your property !!!!!!!!!!

  15. HOA is a nightmare. glad im not in the US where I can plant what I want on my lawn and not have to deal with Karens complaining about that.

  16. That's amazing. I wish more people would use native plants in their gardens and yards. It's much better for the enviroment, they usually thrive way better and they're still really pretty!Tried to explain it to my mom before but she's just like, mmm plant good.
