I’m starting a new blog series on light (link in profile) because your hundreds of questions tell me that you’re all thinking and trying to make sense of the existing guidelines.

Several years ago, when I bought this light meter, I saw how drastic the light intensity changed with what seemed like small changes in position and time of day.

It occurred to me that the ways in which light was being described for houseplant care were far too vague to account for the intensity variations and it seemed permissible to be hand-wavy about light.

I can honestly say that the one major factor in my becoming confident with houseplant care was when I understood how to be specific about light.

The subject of light deserves many articles…this is just the first.

Please continue to ask about light as your thoughts on what is confusing help me to help you…

Plant: Philodendron bipennifolium cutting from @homebyfaith – thanks, Jackie!
