Trying to hold still for a sharp picture…or maybe I’ll just Boomerang it!

If I post about spider plants, people inevitably ask about how to prevent browned tips. The standard answer is something to do with water. Then you go and try but tips still become brown.

My answer is always good light (which is to say put the plant where it has the widest possible view of the sky and, for spider plant, they also accept several hours of direct sun so long as you keep up with the watering). Good light is the prerequisite for growth of new leaves. The newest leaves are nice and sharp. When you see these “perfect tips”, you simply don’t notice the older leaves and their browned tips.

Listen to me ramble more about spider plant care with Jane Perrone @j.l.perrone on her podcast: On The Ledge Podcast! Link in bio.
