Rabbit’s foot fern rhizomes crawling nicely!
2️⃣ No drainage hole? No problem. Since the planting medium is purely sphagnum moss, when it’s time to water, I just run it under the tap, let it sit for a few minutes, then tip it upside down to pour off the excess water. Now I know that the moss is holding the maximum amount of water, which will be used up in good time because 3️⃣ I’ve given this plant the widest possible view of the sky plus the tolerable duration of direct sun (2-3 hours in the afternoon in my case). This has been the care strategy I used for the two years it has been in this pot.
4️⃣ One reason I love the Rabbit’s foot fern (Davallia fejeensis) is because when it drops its fronds, they drop in a single piece instead of the mess of leaflets from Boston or Kimberly Queen ferns
Read carefully: “*WHEN* the fronds drop” – as new ones grow, older ones will fall off. If you’re giving the plant the best possible growing location and watering accordingly, you can let Nature take its course.
