Another manifestation of “Plant Blindness” can be demonstrated by how casually the above expression is used when referring to a plant but would be deeply disturbing if we were referring to an animal.

For the record, I prefer to say “it died” for all the plants that have come and gone under my watch, not so much to remove my responsibility but rather to acknowledge that there are factors beyond my control and much to learn.
