Weevil larvae are very easy to farm, production costs are low, and profit margins are potentially high.

The farming technique is cost effective and environmental friendly as it utilize agricultural waste as a resource and enhance food security.

  3. It's ok but care must be taken to prevent them from escaping into the environment. The adult develops into rhinoceros beetle which flies into the terminal leaves of palm and coconut trees eating the young shoots of the terminal leaves, laying eggs there which later hatch and feed on the dead plant biomass of the trees killing the trees in the process. As the trees die terminally, more food become available to these insects. This is the beetle that wiped the coconut plantation of the Cape St. Paul of Woe, VR and its environs. The Environmental Protection Council and all other agencies and departments in Ghana should do all they can to protect their escape into the environment by doing what has to be done to these insect farmers. My take. Thanks.
