  2. I love your garden, everything you do inspires me. We just added concrete mesh arches to our raised bed boxes.

  3. I have yet to get any zinnias. Something keeps eating them, but we do have sunflowers this year which were being eaten early last year. So maybe next year will be a winner for the zinnias?

  4. Oh! A knee pad would be so helpful! Love seeing your beautiful gardens. That dinner plate dahlia is amazing! I have a yellow one that size that I am looking forward to seeing this year.
    Thanks for all you share!

  5. Hi Kim, as soon as you mentioned Fall I got so excited! more so if I can have a chance to win the August Box;) I've been telling people about your YouTube channel as a wonderful resource to learn. I can't thank you enough for all you do;)…My gosh, the Dahlias are amazing!

  6. What a great giveaway! I haven't been able to get a sub box yet and feeling left out , I've seen what's inside the boxes and all the fun people are having with them. I would love to receive a sub box to be part of the August Sub Box.

  7. Kim: The dahlias are stunning! I've never seen them so big before. I've had such a nightmare with tomatoes this year. We had such a mild winter in Spain, then a wet start to the summer, which created blight across my tiny little garden.

Jerry: Loved the drone shots in the video.

  8. I'm a first-time gardener. I want to thank you for repeatedly reminding us that we have to manage our expectations with regards to pests and plants that just aren't thriving. The first couple of plants I had to dispose of where difficult. June was too cool and July wasn't consistently over 60 at night until the middle of the month. Everywhere else is going through a heat wave and it's only 73° here in south San Diego. My Tiny Tim tomatoes, kale, peppers and beans all died or got infested, so I just started more! My squash, watermelon and cucumber plants are covered in flowers and I already harvested some basil. I planted some San Marzano tomatoes and I think they are doing great, too. Thanks again for helping me to have realistic expectations.

  9. I love your flowers. Nice pollinator paradise. Yes, the heat did a number on all our gardens. My cucumbers are crispy and mis-shapen too. I planted more cucumber seeds and the bunnies ate them. I'm not giving up and planted more seeds. So many pests this summer. Thanks for being an inspiration and sharing your garden tips!

  10. I planted sugar baby watermelon last year and they failed. I tried again this year and actually have 2 growing. Keeping a close eye on them so the heat doesn't hurt them. Thanks for always being real and sharing your ups and downs in the garden. Always helpful. Thanks CaliKim ❤

  11. Thank you for sharing that you are having problems with your tomatoes. This is the 1st year growing the golden jubilee tomatoes and they are struggling in the heat even with the shade cloth. Our dahlias are doing great!

  12. Hi Kim, I’m in Stockton California and we are dealing with the heat too 😅 but using the shade cloth has been helping tremendously 👍🏻

  13. OMG, the heatwave has been creating havoc in my garden as well. I'm looking forward to the cool off next week! Thank goodness the veggies in Smart pots are doing better than the ones in the ground. Shade cloth is definitely my friend this scorching July. Thank you for all your tips and tricks ❤.

  14. The dahlias are beautiful! I too am having a slow start to tomatoes this year. I have plenty of green tomatoes but they are very slow to ripen. I have been successions planting veggies and have had decent success. We have a bunny issue and grasshopper problems. Mostly a good growing year.

  15. Don't forget to keep the bees hydrated too, they need our help. Put out a large shallow bowl in a shady area with some flat rocks in there so they have a place to land and don't accidentally slip in and drown. And please do like CK and incorporate flowers into your garden. Not only for the aesthetics but to keep the bees stocked up on pollen. Let's design our gardens not only for ourselves but for our important pollinator friends too.

  16. I love your garden! I have been growing my mom's Dahlia's for the past 3 years. They are maroon and white. I did not know there was a dinner plate dahlia. I will be adding that to my garden. A few years ago I had rats in the garden. My nursery told me to leave out a pie plate of water for them and they would leave my tomatoes alone. It worked and now we coexist. I am in zone 9b and I have used 40% shade cloth for the last 3 years. It sure helps the garden to survive the heat. I have 10 volunteer tomato plants and they are doing fantastic. I can't wait to see what kind they are.Thank you for all of the information and tips you have in your videos. I am always learning something new!
