Girl, I got this in my flower pots, on purpose. In the great depression, it was canned for rating later. I also allow one or two to go to seed, for planting later. Also great juiced
Thanks Jinne, I have lots of them growing around here!!
I have put it in my salads before. I need to dehydrate some for a "greens" powder. Great vid!!
I like to add lamb's quarters, dandelion greens, and plantain leaves to my salads to beef them up. Nobody ever notices I put them in there.π
Thanks
I transplanted some lamb's quarters to the edge of my garden & will harvest seeds to plant for next year. I dehydrate the leaves at a very low temp & then use it to sprinkle on my food like a garnish
You can also dehydrate and powder.
I live in Southern California . I have never seen that plant. I looked on Amazon for seeds but not on Prime.
As I came home tonight I noticed that the two lambs quarters in the front garden are about two feet tall. Someone needs to get her lazy but out there and put it in a stir fry! π€£
Very interesting π never heard of it. Will look for it. Thanks for sharing!
I just bought some seeds of Lambs Quarters from ebay. Free shipping too. But here in Southern California it too hot to grow now. I will grow during the fall and spring
The stalks taste like asparagus. I made cream of asparagus soup with them
I have never heard of them before , Thank you Jinne
This is such a great series! Iβm really enjoying these lessons and your explanations are very clear and thorough. Our property is just covered in lambs quarters, so Iβm really delighted to find that itβs so useful!!β€οΈπΊπΈ

Thanks for this info! I'm going to check if there is some growing in my yard. What does it taste like? Bitter? Sweet?? Spicy?? That would help me know if I have correctly identified it.
Why classify them as a weed? Seems like it would be a good idea to plant them in your garden or your yard on purpose. I don't think this would be found anywhere but in a lush, humid environment like yours but I'm not sure. I just learned of this plant the other day, while watching someone else's video. Interesting you chose to tell us about it today. Thanks, Ginne. (PS: Please put your name in the description so we can get used to how you spell it. It's important to me to spell it right and I'm pretty sure I'm not doing that. Thanks.)
Jinnie can you come hang out with me and teach me how to forage for all this stuff…. I promise im harmless…. Seriously Thank You for sharing this information with us ππ Kendra
Thank you for this video. I think I have this in my garden. I thought it was a weed so I pulled it out. When I did it smelled so good like a herb so I tried to put it back in the ground. Iβll have a closer look at it and maybe have a nibble .
Yumz, it does cook up like Spinach, & nice on Salads, we call it Fat Hen in UK. π
TFS Jinne, take care & keep really busy everyone. β€ππΆ
Thank you for sharing info on this plant.
I've found this growing in a planter not in use. I'm going to pick some and try it.
Good informational video , thanks for sharing , God bless !
ππ» Excellent lesson. I'm in Central Florida, East coast. A plethora of wild things grow in our yard. Going to see if I can find Lambs Quarters.
Iβve never heard of this but Iβll be looking for it tomorrow.
I'm dehydrating lots of it to go in smoothies, soups, strews β€ my son an I came up on it a few years ago during a homeschool foraging class we have been growing it ever since a long with a lot of other weed foods π
My chickens love it
Thank you. I have identified 8 wild eatables in my yard. Great content. God Bless and stay safe.
And to think I've been treating them like any other invasive weed. I bet you could dry and powder them to use in smoothies, green drinks or add to soups and things that you don't want the whole leaf. Thanks for this.
This has been growing wild in my backyard for years. I discovered what they are a couple if years ago and now I don't allow them to be mowed down. In some parts of the world they are cultivated. Thanks for bringing this to people's attention. BTW, you don't have to know how to garden to grow them.
Thx Jinne! I have never seen that here in Florida.
Nice to know. Ty
I decided to grow lamb's quarters in my garden this yr instead of spinach….it grows soooooo much better, and all summer longπ
