Having a get together for #FathersDay? This Rosemary Greyhound will be a crowd pleaser. Here’s the recipe for this botanical cocktail from kevinleejacobs (and give him a follow for more cooking + garden adventures!)
.
Ingredients
2 cups sugar
2 cups water
5 sprigs fresh rosemary plus more sprigs for garnish
1 part vodka or to taste
1 part ruby red grapefruit juice or to taste
.
Instructions:
1. Making the scented syrup — Tip the sugar and water into a heavy sauce pan. over medium heat. While stirring from time to time, heat the mixture just until the sugar dissolves. Do not let the water boil. Off heat, add the rosemary sprigs. Then cover the pot and let steep until sugar syrup is fragrant with rosemary — about 1 hour. Strain the syrup and discard rosemary. The scented syrup can be stored, covered, in the refrigerator for up to 1 month.
.
2. Mixing the cocktail — For each serving, pour equal parts vodka and grapefruit juice over rocks (ice cubs) in a low-ball glass or small jar. Top off with the rosemary syrup. Garnish with a small sprig of rosemary. Enjoy! Makes 4 servings.
