  1. Lmao I don’t blame you for freaking out about the spider web..Yesterday I was in the garden and came across a MASSIVE baby tarantula looking spider in one of my raised beds and it almost sent me to the upper room 😩 It almost got on me 🀒 They’re eating the bad bugs though so I’ll allow them I guess πŸ˜‚

  2. My determinate tomatoes are definitely showing the heat stress. A few of the tomatoes I've had to chuck because they are squishy, but not ripe (just blushed). I'm guessing they cooked? I just put up shade cloth 2 days ago. Hopefully that will help the rest. My long beans are starting to take off (yahoo!). They love the heat, are very prolific and grow super fast so it's easy to pick the ripe ones and throw into the frig until I get enough for a meal. Which since they are 12+ inches long doesn't take too many beans. My okra, watermelon and cucs were slow starting. My cuc's are just now getting going with flowers. I'm keeping my fingers crossed I'm able to get anything from them. I used the "recommended plant date" for our area, but I think I probably should have planted 2 weeks earlier than I did. You just never know with Texas weather. It's always a crap shoot lol.

  3. Wow, your tomato harvest has been amazing to see. I am in zone 9b in Southern California and just pulling my first Brandywine today. My San Marzano & Roma tomatoes are about 2 weeks away from being ripe. On Monday I picked up an OXO Food Mill for about $20 on clearance, regular price is about $56. Happy Gardening!

  4. I get so jealous. I'm from very South Louisiana, so I'm used to timing like yours. Now I live in Southern Illinois, which is behind, planted out my tomatoes late, and we're in a mini-drought in our area, and my big garden is very, very difficult to water (another location, not easily accessible spigot, no rain catchment). Everything is so small. I can't bear to pop off flowers and early fruits, because for the few plants I did, they still haven't grown much.

  5. Seriously, do not worry about the 2 baby snakes. Worry about the momma and daddy snake that produced the baby snakes. You should try the coyote tomato if you like sweet tomatoes. I should have a few extra seeds if you want them. They are small but really prolific, with very thin skins.

  6. Take some of your mint and mix it with the brown mouthwash and use it as a bug spray. Also imitation vanilla is supposed to be a great mosquito repellent. I mix it in lotion until its thin then spray all over.

  7. Well done Brooke! You are making much better use of your yard's square footage than I am!
I've been wanting to build new raised beds for strawberries next spring and tomatoes next summer, but I'm afraid to because my wife and I are considering selling our house sometime in 2024 or 2025.
edit: looking forward to seeing your future orchard!

  8. So happy I found your channel! I moved here 3 years ago and it has been a challenge for sure! When did you start your tomatoes? I started mine indoors in January and they still were wimpy and I have tomatoes but they haven't turned and now the heat 😒 and my brads atomic grape are the size of Romas! Also I've been making basil iced tea out of all my basil so many volunteers of so many varieties of basil this year!
