Water usage for photosynthesis depends on light received. So the first question should be:

“How lit does it need to be?”

Once it’s properly lit, then you water based on *OBSERVING* soil dryness.

Sometimes it happens that you end up getting to the preferred dryness level every week or so – but then you tell someone “I water this plant once a week” – they then get the idea that watering is a schedule-based action and the broken telephone continues…
