The peppers are doing very well, melons are to a good size, and I put in my final round of warm crops 6 days ago, they all sprouted. I ramble my way through a late July tour of my garden.

My jalapeños are not taking off either. I live in zone 6A and we were affected by the wild fires in Canada.
Great garden!
I could be wrong, but that insect with the orange band is a peach borer. I had one for the first time this year. Had to treat the trunk of my peach, nectarine, plum and apricot trees. Hoping I got to them in time. Your artichokes look great.
Enjoyed the video Gary!
Too hot in Texas 100+, so no growth. I may skip the summer gardening next year.
Enjoyed the video Gary and the encouragement! I live in north MS and it's hot. I replanted zucchini, cucumbers and beans this weekend. Your videos have encouraged me to expand my fall garden beyond just a few collard plants.
Lots of peppers banana and bell put a shade cloth on them and gave them some fertilizer and wow. What I learned is that I planted too many in my bed they are small but productive. Seems like I am harvesting 2 to 3 times per week. Learn so much from you have our book as well.
My bell peppers are growing but not producing, what do they need?
That insect at approx 12:56 – Mydas Fly. Eggplant – I love it, no one else in my family does. Hence I stopped growing it – but man, salivating over your plants, flea beetles and all. Thanks for the ramble.
Looks like a Mydas fly.
Summers been disappointing in England, getting some peppers forming on overwintered jalapeno plants but the ones from seed are growing slow 😢
Everything looking great as always! Not here! my plants grow do well and die, think I finally found out why, root knot nematodes, have you or could you do a a video on treating it, from searching online, quite conflicting and confusing info, your video on diseases really got me looking at what's going on, thanks!!
I use pruned raspberry canes as nature's barbed wire. I wrapped my pear trees with it after deer ate all my lower leaves. I haven't had a problem since.
Plant sunflowers in your garden so it can attract the bees so they can pollinate the crops
Love the rambling series!
Question: what spray did you recently use on your cucumbers and watermelons in your main garden?
Question: Forgot to ask. My asparagus really took a beating this summer with Asian Beetles and heat. What type of fertilizer can I put on now to help them produce for next spring?
You need to sell a shirt that says “Don’t over-worry about that”. It’s a mantra that I hear you repeat a lot and I really like it.
My poor pepper plants have alot of pest pressure, on top of the crazy weather in Michigan from the wildfires in Canada. Ive tried everything…..neem, de, etc….nothing worked. Finally broke down and git Captain Jacks dead bug, and I also have another one you suggested coming. Im going to win!!!! The goid thing is…. I have more oeoowr plants at my moms that are thriving and so im not too super worried, but the pest pressure at my home is nuts….so im having to break out the heavy artillery. Praying that the top dressing of compost and espoma chicken manure helps them rebound.
Please tell me what the dust is that you talk about putting on your plants interested in zucchini and summer squash yellow squash squash vine borer what kind of test is that you’re talking about
Hi Gary when you talk of spraying what are you using, thanks from bc Canada
Do you have a floor plan ? Where to plant what?
Gary, you should start a tomato canning business 😂
My squash reached the point where they had stopped producing. I pulled them up, and reseeded. My trellis tunnel is looking bare after removing the cucumber vines and a Super Sweet 100 Cherry Tomato plant.. I have one transplant that is beginning to climb, and two more started. I also sowed seeds for cantaloupe, Danvers, Navone Gold Rutabagas, Purple Top Turnips, Tokinashi Turnips, Late Nagasaki Cabbage (Giant Pak Choi), and Hilton cabbage. The seeds have already sprouted for the rutabagas, turnips, and Nagasaki Cabbage. I just did a large harvest of peppers. I am starting to harvest Sun Gold, Sunrise Bumble Bee, and Black Cherry Tomatoes. My slicing potatoes are beat up with disease, and aren't producing in the Alabama heat. I knew getting a late start was going to cause problems. My third of tomatoes are looking promising. I have 41 pint jars of canned tomatoes, so I am not concerned. I will be planting more in September for winter tomatoes. Next on my list is harvesting a bunch of basil for dehydrating.
