  1. This YT gardener and "James" are just a couple of the ones who identify where they are growing. I grow on the west coast, so my weather is different.

  2. I used a floating cover this year for squash. So far I'm very successful. Edit: I want to atest to Mr. Millennial Gardener, squash is a challenge is the Southeast.

  3. Poor Dale. I had a couple pooches over the decades that were the same. I lost one for a couple weeks until a kind person responded to my community buy and sell periodical (that's a physical mailer that would arrive weekly, for you younguns). My periodical was called 'The Pennysaver'. Ahh, the good old free republic days.

  4. My yellow squash just keep falling off the vine , some just shrivel up 😒
My tomatoes πŸ…are doing awesome ! Both are in the same box …

  5. This won't work in Oklahoma. Mid summer is so hot young squash will not pollinate. Young plants are a waste of time and space.
The evil borer can be controlled by spraying the stem area every 2 days with sevin.

  6. Thanks for your videos, they are great! BTW, Awesome that you try to help your dog feel better from the fireworks. Mine are terrified of them too. Good luck this year. Take care.

  7. Do you prune the leaves of zucchini or just the cucumber only? Thank you so much for keeping us informed about gardening πŸ‘πŸ˜ŠπŸ‘©β€πŸŒΎβ™₯️ give Dale a kiss and hug from us πŸ˜ŠπŸ‘©β€πŸŒΎπŸ‘

  8. OMG, what a tremendous amount of time and money expended on the garden. I think I’ll just but my zucchini at the store ! Just sayin.

  9. When the flowers fall off or its too late in the season, save the flowers, wash them and throw them in a pan with some olive oil or butter.

  10. This was really good for me, right now. I like things that grow without attention, but I do waste time trying to save plants I shouldn't.

  11. I've grown zucchini and cucumbers and other squash plants all my life and I can tell you that I only have one zucchini plant and one cucumber plant 1 butternut squash plant 1 acorn squash plant and one pumpkin plant. And I'm here to tell you the one zucchini plant that I have in my garden every year continues to put on the fruit all the way until the very first Frost. And the same with my cucumber plants it will continue to produce cucumbers until the first Frost the same for my butternut squash acorn squash and pumpkins. So if you're one zucchini plant is dying out from pests or diseases then you're doing something wrong. And that's most likely that you're planning your zucchini plant and infested area. When it comes to Garden a Gardener has to rotate their if you don't know what rotation actually means I will explain it to. That means if you plant zucchini plant in one location that season then the next pollen season you got planet in a different location the next following that's called crop the reason for crop rotation in your garden is for the same reason why farmers do crop rotation. If a farmer plants corn in the same field year after year after year then he is inviting all kinds of piston disease that will destroy his corn crop so that's why I farmer only plants corn for two seasons in the field and then after that then to the third season he plants beans or wheat. But considering that gardeners are dealing with more delicate plants then what a farmer is. Then Gardener has got to rotate their crops every season. You'd do best to stay off of Google and start talking to the old-timers about gardening then you might learn more about gardening. Because I'm here to tell you that us Old-Timers know more about gardening then the knitwits that puts a crap out there on Google or YouTube.

  12. Thanks Millennial. Good stuff. I saw a video on mixing glue + powder + water, and brushing it onto the stems. I tried it. It stayed on the plant longer than the powder alone, and was a more targeted application than shaking powder on the stems. I also tried injecting the leaf stems with BT. Got minor squash borer damage on one plant, but it didn't progress. Any thoughts on these remedies?

  13. I discovered Squash Vine Borer lure traps which works excellent. Also, if you have issues with Japanese beetles there is a lure trap for them as well and starts working immediately.

  14. I understand that the female blooms need to be pollinated. However, the small fruit will turn yellow before the flower even opens. What's going on there?

  15. Are you familiar with the plant health pyramid concept put forward by John kempf from Advancing eco agriculture?
