All cacti are succulents — but not all succulents are cacti. Cacti are a sub-category of the succulent plant family. In order for a succulent plant to be considered a cactus, it must have ‘areoles’ which are the little mounds where the spines or prickly hairs grow. (Not to be confused with ‘areolas’ — mounds where sometimes lil hairs grow too 😜) So, which are you more into?
