Hoya kerrii variegata – 2️⃣ happy to see some new growth after almost a year of nothing happening.

️⃣ Last year’s growth: very green, dome shaped, and generally not as “attractive” as the original leaves. Why? It’s always about light…

️⃣ The best available light is right up against my west facing window

️⃣ #whatmyplantsees – if you consider the surrounding view as seen by the plant, look how small the view of the sky is.

️⃣ Compare this to the view at the nursery. Let’s be more specific than simply “there’s more light” – think about WHY there is more light. It’s not so much that there is more sun, it’s that there is more visible area of sky. Thus, even if you put a plant right up close to your largest window, you’re just barely getting the visible area of sky that your plant once had at the nursery. With this fact in mind, wouldn’t it be better to have realistic expectations instead of setting unrealistic goals on a process that is not even fully under our control?
