  1. any input on using trex instead of cedar or whatever you're using there? real wood really doesn't last long in soil contact here in the pacific NW..

  2. Thank you so much for sharing!! We're getting into this very sort of project this Spring & it's so helpful to see what other's are up to. Thank you!! 🙂

  3. i would suggest a large berry bush instead of a tree for the center i think it will give you less problems with shading the other plants

  4. Hey BAF, I just wanted to invite you over to check out our homesteading channel if you get a chance, Thanks – Devin

  5. But if you are using non treated wood for your raised beds then your bottom boards that contact the ground will be rotted out by next growing season, do you just replace and go on or have you found a way around this?

  6. Sure brick will but I was commenting about the beds you had built out of non-pressure treated white wood not treated, not cedar, and not brick. They are making contact with the ground and that is an awful lot of beds to be replacing every year.

I understand why your not using treated and I respect that, and you’ve done a nice job of setting things up and I would love to use several of your ideas but by using the lumber you used it won’t last more than a year is what my point was. Sure brick will last a lifetime but it’s also a lot more expensive.

I’ve got a 20 acre farm that I’ve converted from tobacco production over to produce. I am just row farming for now but I’m a disabled vet with a bad back , chest wall, and shoulder so I’m not sure how long I will be able to keep doing it the way I am and raised boxes would help tremendously. I am also doing blueberries, raspberries, blackberries, strawberries, etc. I am non organic but I grow under organic principles but I’m not gonna give the state my money and jump thrust their hoops just so I can use the name. It will still taste and look better than any organic stuff in the grocery.

Take care buddy, keep it up and I’m gonna start following what your doing. Keep the videos coming please

  7. Great spacing. You can also get a wheelbarrow or garden cart between the beds as well which will be soo helpful while picking

  8. Those wood beds will be falling apart and rotting by year 3. Take it from someone who knows from previous experience.

  9. When you were talking about the compost's pH, you said it should be high pH, especially for things like tomatoes… but did you really mean LOW pH? As in, acidic? Because I want to grow tomatoes in raised beds as well but don't want to mess that up.
