Roots and Refuge Farm: First Big Tomato Harvest (An Average Homestead Saturday) | VLOG

Hey ya’ll, I’m Jess from Roots & Refuge Farm

Welcome to a place that feels like home. A small farm with a big family. We hope you’ll pull up a chair, grab some coffee and visit awhile.

There was a time that all I wanted in the world was a little farm where I could raise my family and grow our food. Now, that is exactly what exists outside my door. In watching it unfold, a new dream was formed in my heart – to share this beautiful life with others and teach them the lessons we’ve learned along the way. Welcome to our journey, friend. I am so glad you’re here.

  2. I love “The Body Keeps the Score” but it’s is like drinking from a firehose. I have to only read a little at a time. Excited for coffee!

  3. I have that "sow kindness" shirt from the quilt. It's seen better days but I still wear it to work. To remind people they need to be nice.

  4. Mya may want to watch Monty Robert's join-up follow up video.. It's very helpful especially with with young and untrained horses and it works beautifully and quickly. I've done his course 24 years ago and used it with every horse i owned or trained.

  5. I always ran outside when an afternoon thunderstorm was about to roll in, and I'd pick every single thing that was ripe or near to ripe. That way, they didn't have a chance to crack, and didn't taste all watery like they would have if I'd gotten to them after the rain. Glad I'm not the only one who sees the value in that timing!

  6. I really enjoyed this video! My tomato plants (north of Dallas – zone 8a), have seen better days. My tomatoes don't look anything like your awesome tomatoes. I really want to know how and what you do with all the tomatoes!

  7. Love your videos. If I may humbly suggest, as a lifelong horsewomen, the sitting in the barn with them is more fostering trust and relationship. A great resource, which I continue to learn from, is Warwick Schiller Attuned Horsemanship. The beautiful thing about horses is there is always something to learn, no matter how long we've been at it. Thank you for sharing your life with us 💖

  8. I am researching and learning about home milling grains for bread and doing away with store bought flour. I was wondering if you mills your own flour? The research I have doing shows store bought flours have all the good nutrients stripped away.

  9. Lovely Saturday morning ritual of relaxation. Awesome clothes-line Miah ! Sweet poetic blanket revival with Ezzera . Toby is cool with his pink-shirt idea…. it is a vibrant background for prints for sure. Yay for horsemanship , teaching and learning about each individual animal. Nice video. Bear is awesome as usual.
