Happy St. Patrick’s Day: here’s a compilation of time lapses I’ve captured of ***THE SAME*** oxalis from March 2016 to the end of 2018.

2016: My oxalis gradually lost all of its leaves towards the winter. I kept it leafless and in the dark for about a week in my cold basement, then brought it back up to the sunny living room.

2017: The year of the sparse oxalis! I don’t recall if I repotted the bulbs but for this growth session, the overall plant wasn’t nearly as full as when I bought it the previous year. Towards the spring of 2018, all the leaves had fallen and I was again left with bulbs in a pot of soil.

2018: In the summer of 2018, I did a full repotting – put the bulbs into completely new soil. By the fall of 2018, the plant had grown to the bushiest it had ever been!

Moral of the story: assuming you’re providing the right light to your Oxalis triangularis, the leaves will eventually die back. When this happens, the plant isn’t necessarily dead! Repot the bulbs into fresh soil and there’s a good chance they’ll put up new leaves. This can be done over and over…
