What Japan Can Learn From Singapore – Inside Singapore’s Secret University Campus

I met interesting Japanese people studying at NUS Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy. I had a chat about why they decided to study in Singapore, and what Japan can learn from Singapore. We also had a tour of this unique campus of NUS that is located within the Botanical Gardens. Big thanks to Toshin, Yoshi, and Rachel for the tour!

  1. "People here are logical and result-orientated". Nothing further from the truth. Taking things for granted will be the undoing.

  2. singapore is NOT angry or resentful about its colonial past. Singapore give credit where it's due. That make Singapore unique amount the sea Asia anti-West anti-Past Treatment attitude that is currently prevalent.

  3. I feel that Singaporean can learn a lot from Japanese. These two Japanese guys have very beautiful aspiration to make this world a better place! I feel Singaporean don’t have lofty ambitions like this, we usually have ambitions to make lots of money and then give our family a good life that’s all, it’s always about me, money and family. 😂

  4. I'm local Singaporean.I've heard of this campus but never went before.Nice Glib San, Arigato for sharing the beautiful place .😊

  5. I like it when you want to buy Mr. Toshin an ice cream with the camera on him. The shiver down his spine showed it on his face. hahaha I believe Japan civil servant should be able to receive small gifts under a certain value like Singapore's civil servants.

  6. Omg you cannot ask someone about their salary like that.. can be considered quite rude, especially with it being filmed

  7. This used to be Singapore Management University campus for its pioneer cohorts too.

I agree that Singapore's full of cookie cutter towns like a formula is applied during urban planning. It's more interesting to explore Malaysia to me.

  8. I think we must also not forget that during our Nation Building, Japan had help us to upgrade our skill. Thank you Japan❤

I recalled in the late 70s, there was this Japan Singapore Technical Institute built at Bukit Merah.

I also had training in Tokyo decades back. What impressed me most then was the work ethic and attention to details of the Japanese trainer and staff.

  9. 13:13 imho – what matters is not the physical location on where you work, but whether the efforts you make at work or during your personal time, your influences and/or your spending/what you choose not to spend on that matters more. You can leave a positive impact to societies in Japan, Singapore or any nation/Earth from most locations in the world.

  10. We wouldn't have reached here without the immense help and support from the Japanese Government and Japan's wonderful people.

  11. Woah, I can travel around singapore by just watching Ghib Ojisan. low key jealous that he has more knowledge of Singapore even though he is from Japan

  12. The way the camera person keeps moving from left to right makes me dizzy. It may be a good idea for the camera to move back a little and capture everyone in the frame instead of moving so much, especially in the scene after the convenience store drink purchases. Just some feedback for improvement. Love your content, just don't love the video capture that much.

  13. SEA has to cultivate their people as one. Unified for the growth and progress for the region. By the way, cute girl Rachel..😊
