Laura, I grew those Roselles last year and they got at least 5'x5' That's going to be a fun space!
This video is refreshing! Like putting Southern Slaw on hotdogs! What a great wealth of knowledge you have for each need of each plant! Just like moms know the needs of each child….everyone is different with different needs. Will the Pink-a-blue play well with the hostas? .
All of your property is looking so wonderful!
Huechera are really only reliable if they are a villosa species, in a climate that has a cold/freeze/winter season.. At least, that is what I have found to be true. The rest are basically an expensive annual.
Question about fertilizing. You’ve mentioned several times that y’all water on Tuesdays. Do you still fertilize if you just got a good rain? I’m wanting to have a schedule for fertilizing, but wasn’t sure if I should if everything is already pretty wet.
Absolutely love this kind of videos, remember several of us have said we’d watch you weed 😂 I’ve started adding Pulmonaria to my garden and it’s doing great, high heat and humidity SW TN. Didn’t you have lungwarts in this area that were transplanted ?
Monday morning 9:00 AM and our humidity is at 77% right now in western Wisconsin and will probably go up.
I LOVE kangaroo paw. I have almost zero luck with it. Last year was the first year UT made it through the summer & it did well. Brought it in & it lasted longer than any other one, but still didn't make it all the way. I also thought it liked it drier, but it does not. Looking forward to seeing how yours do.
Geraniums are supposed to be deer resistant but every time I plant them they get eaten to the ground! Anyone have luck with a particular variety being more deer resistant? Would love to use some to fill in a half sun half shade spot
Great video, thank you for sharing! 🪴💚
Oh that kangaroo paw plant is so pretty. Never heard of that plant before, so unique. Looking forward to seeing how it fills that planter as the weeks go by.
Lol! I wish we had 10% humidity! Three days ago it was literally 100% here in Alabama. It makes it hard to breathe.
I'm impressed with Laura's reaction to just gather up the random plants to get them in the ground, rather than keep watering them inside. Laura is always an inspiration to productive action, my theme these days.
isn't it fun to get those loose ends taken care of??? i have a list of those… everything on your property looks so lush and gorgeous! things are filling in fast (to me, maybe not so much to you, hahaha) have a great week, everyone! 🥰❤ thanks for the video!! 🥰❤
Love your rose garden…..do you guys have trouble with Japanese beetles? I'm in 7B in North Carolina and they can be pretty obnoxious…..also, am definitely getting those lungwort if I can find them…..
Laura , the last few videos I have watched this awful 3 hour ad comes on … please stop this !!!
Excited to see how the artichokes do in the cold frame. sounds like a great idea for wintering over!
Does anyone know what type of mulch/compost she uses between the stone walkway path to make the ground even?
Good morning from Northern Utah! ☕️
The hibiscus flowers are delicious dried. They taste like cranberry. You can also make sauce like cranberry sauce.
Columbine is so lovely. I started a bunch of Leprechaun Gold columbine and am loving the color contrast in the leaves, even the cotyledons were variegated yellow and green. They might add a bright pop of color to your shadier spots.
Love loose end planting. Great day for it. Humidity Ha! Ha! our temperature today 31 Celsius and humidex of 36 Celsius. I hate humidity so uncomfortable. Hopefully we have lots of wind today. Thank you so very much for sharing this with us.🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦
I tried to germinate some artichoke seeds and was not successful.
I sure enjoyed listening to the doves cooing, & other birdies singing their beautiful songs in the background as you were planting….much more pleasant than the music ….I went to my local nursery yesterday, and was pleased to recognize names of plants that you talk about, plant & grow….made my heart happy….pouring rain here for the past few days…it's been cold too…4C in my Zone 3A in Canada….managed to find 3 perennial plants for my rock garden…gardening is soooo good for making hearts happy….. Best to all… ❤ from BC
Wow beautiful video🌹🌹
Oh my goodness! I just noticed that Russell has thumbs! Beautiful new roses! Love your channel!
Do you remove the early blooms on the pepper? I heard that doing so would encourage the plant to grow taller. My peppers are starting to flower and produce fruit. I am worried that if I pick the fruit off the plant, it won’t have time to produce more fruits later on.
Just a little humidity chuckle from me! Wondering if the your land and the surrounding were at one point farm land?
I did snicker at the humidity comment. We can have a 100 percent. 😉
I love the Lantana because of the square stem. The blooms are never ending. ❤
The roses are beautiful!!! I am loving seeing all of the different ones you have.
And yes, definitely Laughing at the 50% humidity….. here on the East Coast of Canada we have been dealing with 90% + humidity for the past week or so and that’s typically where it stays for most of the summer 🥵 I’d love 50% right about now lol😂
I love these videos of planting, they help me go through the winter months. I was smiling at the 50% humidity. We always have numbers above that but last summer was unusually dry with humidity way below 50%. Not only affected our crops and gardens but ourselves, my nose was bleeding all the time, my hair was falling. Now we're still in a drought and in the capital city we only have drinking water for a couple of weeks if it doesn't rain. So I've made peace with humidity now. Nature knows what's best for us, we just need to leave it alone and don't mess with the environment and everything will be alright.
I live in Colorado and I 100% understand what you mean about the humidity. We don't get humid often so it's hard to breathe when it does.
Didn't you used to have limelight hydrangea in that west garden? What happened to them, did you lose them, move them, or did I just imagine them?
I almost chocked with the 50% humidity. Today is 100% here😂🤣I totally understand tho. If you are not use to it 50% is a lot. Actually you never get use to that high humidity no matter where you live. Enjoy your day Laura!
Two words: HIBISCUS MARGARITAS! 🙂
Curious why she isn’t using the auger for planting.
If you like iced tea, hibiscus tea makes delicious iced tea.
I’m growing columbine for the first time. I absolutely love the flowers. Can you talk a little about deadheading spent flowers to promote RE blooming?
How long does it take for columbine seedlings to mature and produce flowers?
You can make a delicious refreshing Jamaica water out of your dried hibiscus 🌺 I don't like it as hot tea either but so delicious as a cold sweet beverage and great antioxidants.
I tried to dry some mint for tea…not sure it came out right🤷🤪…i have to try to taste it but I'm almost scared lol! Good luck with your hibiscus and I'll keep trying with my mint👍👏😊
Always love these planting videos 's, it's what we all do. Random question: This is my second year growing lizianthus. They are about a 10" tall and setting blooms. Aren't they supposed to be much larger. I did plant them on the late side, we had such a cool spring (N. Idaho z6). They are healthy just short. Any ideas? Thanks.
Your gardens are gorgeous and definitely could be considered a display garden. I would definitely buy tickets for touring access. Question…how are you selecting roses i.e. retailer websites, advice from local or online gardening forums? Will you be adding roses to your beautiful bouquets? You definitely appear to be growing a wide range/ different classes of roses. For example, Madam Anisette can be a climber in many climates. April Love is a shrub rose… and it will have growth habits that can be very different from a hybrid tea…
Hi 👋 Laura
I love that you have sone “silence” in your videos. There’s no need for constant talking and/ or music in the background. While you plant it is nice to hear the birds and the sounds of your digging!
Laura,
Iced hibiscus tea is de-lish!! You should give it a try…
Anyone wish they could just ride around with Laura in real time? Like a live feed of her day. Lolllll. Anyone like the Truman show?? 😂😂😂
