And where my in-ground garden is, there's lots of rocks! We manage to work around them. The farmer to the east of us says that those fields there are FULL of rocks! Rocks make good plant props, sometimes!😂

Mary, I agree. Survival seeds are a good buy. I buy for myself and I have bought them as a Christmas gifts. I, also have nothing but praise regarding them. Do you know how long the coupon will be for? I was wanting to wait for fall to buy again. Your right, I live in a senior one level apartment with a patio. I have what I call mini garden. Three different types of tomotoes, spinach, peas, cilantro, green onions. I just started a tower garden for lettuce. I have lots of herbs Im growing in small dollar store metal bucket attached to a pallet for vertical space. To me a garden isnt a garden without some editable flowers.

And I got the cat kit because I can't resist spoiling my kitties. And a gardening keeping the apocalypse at bay t-shirt. LOL!!! I think their Apartment Kit Seed Vault – 20 Container Friendly Varieties kit is interesting and probably my next purchase. I like apartment kit type packs because they are also good for condo people like me and busy people who aren't looking to make a big garden but want a productive container garden, no matter what actual space they have to grow in big or small. Wow Mary I thought I knew all the garden companies but I hadn’t heard of this one! My daughter and son have taken over planting and tending our garden this year because I haven’t been feeling very motivated. We’re adding more medicinal herbs and sprouting micro greens too. Your videos are so inspiring!
I have a question for anyone that can help me out. She mentions Sugar Baby watermelons as drought tolerant. Last year during our awful summer (Southwest Tennessee) we went forever it seemed with no rain and heat indices in the 100 + range all summer. My sugar baby watermelons grew like crazy. I got a giant wheelbarrow full of them. They were as big as bowling balls and beautiful. HOWEVER, they were in an area of the property that I just don't water that much. The watermelons looked beautiful and grew like crazy. It was such a disappointment. Upon cutting them….every one we cut tasted bland. There was no sugar in them at all. I read that it was because of drought. Watermelon roots take all the sugar when the melons don't get water. Has ANYONE had issue with this??? It was so hard to compost all those beautiful watermelons last year. Just sad.

I purchase heirloom seeds every spring and stay ahead if I can. This year my garden is laying fallow and I am having my soil tested to see if I need to make any corrections. I did plant herbs in pots for cooking however.

Gardening has its learning curves. It is not enough to out a seed in a pot of soil, or hydroponics unit. I have started growing tomatoes this year and it has been an eye opener. As a perennial lettuce hydroponics grower, changing the seed company was surprising. (New company sold me very old seeds which did not germinate.) So I agree you need to practice.
Yeah I have an apt. Though. And no food. I'm thrilled.

Hi Mary, love your videos this is another great one and have implemented some of your suggestions. I have the space but not the time, maybe an excuse. Can you also do a little part of using cast iron and how to take care of them? I have one and there is an overload of different types of information. When I wipe the pan clean after using the paper towel is black, I've read that it's okay and will go away-is this correct and how do I "season" it as they say?

The very first time I made your simple roasted chicken, which was very recently, I thought my husband was going to eat the entire chicken himself! He said, and I agree, that is the best chicken you will ever eat! I’ve got to find more recipes of yours to cook for him. He just retired from driving cross country in the last month due to too many health issues with his end stage kidney disease. He’s been on the road for 10 years and his coming home has changed how I do things. I’ve been cooking more and trying to find as you say, nutrient dense recipes. He has other health issues, too, and it is not an easy task getting it right. I love your channel. So glad I found it.
