  1. It's always a good day to start with a beautiful smile from Kaye and a cup of coffee in the morning! On a side note, you remind me of a character on Silo. At first, I thought it was you! You have a twin, especially when you see her hair down! Any way!

  2. Here in India, monkeys, rats, peacocks and birds along with humans ruin a farm just in few hours. You are looking pretty good today. I hope you keep blooming your garden and get happiness. …love from India. SAGAR

  3. I feel it’s easier to grow food for one person. But pretty much impossible. I’m one person too, and grow my veggies, but not a years worth that’s for sure. But I still grow a lot! I’m eating squash from last year, and I got lots of squash growing now, beans too. It’s amazing how these large family homesteaders grow what they do for their families. I do not have that space. But I do pretty good if I say so myself..:). And so do you!

  4. Hey did you ever get your 100k plaque from YT yet? Or did I miss it? I posted a few photos of my meager garden here in Maine if interested. Keep up the good work.

  5. I wish I could grow sunflowers. But these squirrels I have are sooooo aggressive they eat to the roots!

  6. I have a volunteer garden too or at least one bed of them, It has sunflowers, tomatoes, peppers and petunias😀 just letting them do what they want! LOVE this video your place is amazing!

  7. i would thin some of the volunteers so it is easier,to harvest when the melons fill the area. if they are all on top of each other, it will be a challenge

  8. I so appreciate your fortitude in pushing through even through age barriers! God bless and keep you!❤

  9. I love Anise Hyssop. Blend the fresh leaves with mint and steep for delicious tea. I like to make a big batch and drink it iced. It's very refreshing after a hot day.

  10. Oh, my sweet friend! I, too was a "crammer." In this instance you're going to find that more is not better. My yields have gotten much larger since I started leaving adequate space between rows and plants, but it took me several seasons for this to sink in. The major portion of my garden is now on 3 ft row spacing, and next year, tomatoes will be on 4 ft row spacing. Using drip tape and planting what will tolerate it on double rows (planting on either side rather than on top of the drip tape) will also maximize your yields. I think you've now learned that if your rows are so tight that you can't get a cultivator in there, you're just making work for yourself. Believe me, we have enough work in the garden without self-sabotage! As for the weather, remember that we are still in a grand solar minimum, and that's going to make our weather crazy for the next few years. We just have to do what we can and say lots of prayers. Our weather, like yours, had late frosts, rain, drought, and now, rain, rain, rain. Fortunately, my Summer growing season, save for peppers and okra (heat loving plants), will be done by mid-July, and my Fall gardening season will begin at the end of August when I'll start some of my Fall plants in trays. Hang in there, and know that you're doing better than you give yourself credit for! 🥰

  11. The side garden is beautiful! 💚 Painted Wapsie, looks right on track .. 👍 Dark, green and healthy. If you notice some of the stocks are red in color that’s something I’ve been working on this is the red/orange variety. You will be surprised. Once they start to tassel how fast the ears will finish and become a dried product. Glad to see you had excellent germination. This variety does fairly well in cool weather beginnings you can start this a little earlier than most field & flour, varieties. You are awesome Kaye 💪 Great, update ! By the way, it makes a wonderful polenta

  12. Now you have one more thing to cram in – painting the tops of the T-posts green …. or you could always go Late Bloomer red.

  13. Sometimes, I'm envious of those who can grow without a fence. 😂 My 3.5 acres is home to many beautiful creatures. A real fence is a must!

  14. Good morning Kaye, you are amazing! My garden in Mesa, AZ keeps me busy for hours each morning and my garden is tiny!!! I dont know how you do it. xoxo

  15. The Garden looks great, Kaye! I'm growing Worchester Red Indian Lima beans, too. The runners are about 3 1/2 feet tall. Watch out for Rayzon herbicide in the hay. That would definitely be disastrous!

  16. Your side garden is looking great. I love all your trellis's. Here in Georgia 8b we have had a rough time getting things to grow this year, because of the usual cool nights we had late in the season. Kaye you are such an inspiration and joy to watch. Keep up the great job you are doing and I always look forward to seeing your next video.

  17. Just an idea. Maybe you could by a can of dark green spray paint and paint the tops of those t posts to make them blend in better.Rust-oleum woks really well.Have a wonderful day.

  18. Ol' Rocky Top! Sorry about those stony fields in your garden. Looking great Kaye! Glad you will have a wonderful harvest. Hard work, hope and prayers work! Looking forward to your update garden tours this year. My garden is growing as hoped other than beans and peppers which are on strike! Well it is 90 degrees out and will be hotter day by day here in the Mohave Desert.

  19. Hey Kaye, I'm speechless. No I'm not. I'm twitterpated. Your long hair made me think of Lady Godiva. Do you have a horse? You are radiant about your progress & should be!! Gotta go now to see a man about a horse.😎💜💪♎🌎⛵🇺🇸

  20. You have the best hats, love them. Were at 91, 104 heat index. I did what I had to do, which was more than I should have done. Like you, I have no one to help so we do what we have to do!! You're doing a wonderful job. I got my lawn mower out but not today. I was soaked completely inside to out!! I got my shower so I'm in for the duration. Where do you get red clover seed?

  21. Hi Kaye…..not to add more stuff to your plate but I am wondering why you don’t have chickens which you can have them work compost and take care of some of the pest. I live in Northen California and have small backyard but finally took the step to get chicks this year😏. Not sure whether I will like it or now but for now I am enjoying it.

  22. Your volunteer garden (with added help) looks fantastic! It's amazing how seeds make it through the winter to come back again! I've put in extra fencing this year, but I got the picket fence and painted them white. I like my garden to look pretty as well as protected but I have a way smaller space to garden then you do. I only once had a doe eating in my garden. I do have the destructive squirrels, chipmunks, voles, and moles though! AND, the slugs are bad this year alongside the powdery mildew. HOW in the world do we ever even get a harvest?! Ugg!

  23. kaye, your garden looks amazing. i can't even dream of keeping it going like you have done. and, when there is no rain, it really is hard. but, hang your head high because you are amazing. i want to try me a little garden but, it seems to be always something stopping me from doing it. flowers are about the closes thing i get to doing. thanks for the video. be safe.
