   veggies over septic field? I would think that would contaminate the plants for eating? No?

   Lots of work Jim, good thing your in the biz, lol. It must be nice to live in an area that you plan to stay in for some time, so you can do some work like that. It'll be interesting to follow this and see how things turn out. I'll be retiring down your way in about 21 months, it ought to be a big change for me, not only being retired, but getting out of the Northeast and moving down to Coastal Carolina, can't wait. Good luck with the project.

    I'm excited to see your progress! I finally am ready to start planning for my very large yard; this will be the first time I try anything in SC as I gardened regularly as a child in NY and I'm used to rich, deep soil and not this sandy stuff.

    I had to laugh at the swingset as we took down my daughter's recently, too. She just turned 18 so it was time. Ha!

    I've enjoyed your videos. I am fairly new to gardening. I'm looking forward to seeing your selections and video for your "White Garden". I started one myself this past spring in my back yard here in Maryland. I've lived in this house 31 years now. Two years ago I had to have my huge old red oak tree (125' tall) taken out that was dying and located just 20 feet from my back door. It's canopy completely covered my back yard and half of my roof. That put my formally fully shaded back yard into nearly full sun after noon. I do miss the cool shade it provided all summer, but took it as an opportunity to add flowers to my surroundings. So far, for my "White Garden" I have planted a Hydrangea 'Sweet Summer' (48"), a Summersweet 'Hummingbird' (about 36"), a Japanese Pieris 'Purity' (only 18" now), and 3 white Peonies (Festiva Maximus). I still have about 60 linear feet at the fence line a mix of full sun and partial sun that I want to plant with white plants and shrubs. I would like to have at least one plant in bloom from spring to fall. As a new gardener that is my biggest challenge — the bloom times. Gardening is tough work! The soil here is mostly clay and from all the lifting, hard digging, hauling, and planting I've done this year I'm in better shape now than I have been in 20 years. I'll be waiting anxiously to find out which plants you're going to select for your "White Garden". Do you have a list of the 'white' plants you are considering? I could use some ideas.

    Jim, very informational videos. I have a question for you. Im looking for a golden or yellow plant or shrub, not a flower.
    My problem is I don't like anything that has that chartreuse green tint to it, as they look terrible with my house color.
    colors like the mop tops just don't work. The show offs are the only plant that looks great, but as you know there only golden yellow for 2 months in the spring then there green. Any help with identifying a nice gold or yellow plant or bush would be really helpful. Thanks and keep making the videos, there great.

    That's a big property and a lot of mulch. Do you have limited supply of water? Also, how much did the land cost you?

    Nice tour, maybe consider replacing the strip of grass around the future vegetable garden with ground cover?
