Last monstera post for 2018: these photos become less frequent as I visit my old church on a less frequent basis. 2️⃣ Look how damaged the edges of this leaf have become – definitely salt/mineral stress and here’s why… 3️⃣ Right at the time I took the cuttings, I had also given the plant a dose of fertilizer since I saw the other vines were shooting out new leaves. Since this vine was left with just one leaf, that leaf had to do all the transpiration work, which would have normally been shared between the other 3-4 leaves that were cut off. And just as overworked machinery gets worn out, the cells at the tips of the leaf eventually died. Am I sad? No, this is the mark of hard work and the reality of Nature’s workflow. If you understand more about biological processes, you’ll be less inclined to jump to the “my plant is dying” conclusion.
