Update on my Hoya Taco planter for #waxplantwednesday – seems to be growing just fine, but slow (as expected). Dry sphagnum moss feels a lot like a dry sponge – hard and crusty. Hoyas can handle complete dryness so I’m just checking for dryness every few days (the moss also becomes lighter in color when it is dry). 2️⃣ When it is time to water, I run it under the tap until it is fully soaked. Are you concerned about “overwatering”? That’s not how plants work: “when it rains, it pours” and yet there aren’t mass die offs in nature of plants that were “overwatered”. Correct light and soil aeration are needed to ensure soil moisture is used up by the plant. If you put a plant where there is inadequate lighting, no amount of cautious watering will save it. The plant will starve to death and you’ll mistakenly attribute the problem to over or under watering. Light is what makes plants work. Watering only works when the plant is working. If light is so critical to plant life, we owe it to them to better understand light. You can start by listening to the two part series on light on the @bloomandgrowradio podcast. I think you’ll find it enlightening 😊🌿
