  1. I think you are going to have to pull the root of the poison ivy if you want it gone gone. Good luck with it!!

  2. Becareful with lining the ground with cardboard! We did last yr at mom's in East Tn and found a Copperhead snake underneath!! Plz becareful!!

  3. As a granddaughter of multigenerational farmers I know there were years when even they had to buy their starts from a local grower. So no worries, take a breath and just keep pushing on.

  4. Centipede grass is supposed to be one that creeps and multiplies. I know it has spread well here. From Montgomery al ❤️ 💕

  5. You have too many leaves in the beds. Yes they decompose but not in one season. Right now they're blocking the much needed sun from reaching the root system. Strawberry plants don't do well being "smothered". It's ok, took me trial and error to figure this stuff out. I'd definitely remove the leaves they're a hindrance right now when your trying to get things to root themselves. I know you talk to Becky, she never used leaves like this either. I leave a layer on my garden after fall cleanup but as soon as I see the sun in the spring I remove them. Hope this helps.

  6. Loved stirring the sauce with the handle :-). Understood why you did it, makes perfect sense to me. You may have started a new trend, my friend. Always keeping things exciting for us and that's why we love you <3

  7. I’m here for all the garden hopes and dreams. I love love the cardboard idea!!! Definitely going to use that ❤❤❤

  8. I’m in the UK, so we don’t have poison ivy, but I looked it up and it said to pour boiling water over it and do this for a few days and then bag what’s left & bin

  9. So productive. Seems the kids and your husband are all on board. So great to see what you have accomplished!

  10. Poison ivy if you don't want to spray, you have to suit up and dig out the entire tap root. It is fairly shallow so you can pull but if you miss any it will come back. Covering doesn't help it'll just pop up where it can. GOOD LUCK!

  11. Wood chips will only temporarily cover up the poison ivy
Get some of the disposable foam paint brushes and paint the leaves with used motor oil or kerosene might work. We always painted it with a concentrated weed killer
Then we were not spraying it but with your children and chickens weed killer might not be an option just dont cut or burn it as the oils will release in the air and anyone allergic to poison ivy will get it. hugs😊

  12. Hey there Jamerrill ! I saw something called Kentucky Blue Grass . A few years ago it was at Walmart. I saw Ace Hardware has it, full sun and no fillers meaning all natural. Let us know what you choose ❤

  13. Just a tip….Make sure your mulch between your beds is 5-6 inches deep ALWAYS! The cardboard will break down quickly and weeds/grass will come right back through if you have a thin layer of mulch.

  14. Try one cup of salt, one tablespoon of white vinegar, and one tablespoon of dish soap in a gallon of water. Pour this soapy water mixture into a spray bottle and apply it liberally to the whole poison ivy plant

  15. I honestly would dig them up. As far as poison ivy goes. I would spray vinegar and then sprinkle corn meal in the area's

  16. You can pour boiling water over them because the hot water will kill the root. Vinegar is bad for other plants as well

  17. Vinegar works great, but will kill everything it touches. I read that Dawn dish soap solution will work. I haven't tried it yet. Don't burn it the poison goes into the air and get in your lungs.

  18. How ironic that I chose this video to watch while I'm cooking my own big batch spaghetti to eat for the next couple of days! 😁😄

  19. For weed killer around my yard I boil up canning salt in water( sorry I don’t exactly know the proportions) I just add enough salt until the water won’t take anymore, then I add a few good ‘glugs’ of vinegar and that’s worked for all the weed in my yard. Worth a try?
