  1. I had a hard time with corn too, some 8b but a friend taught me a thing or 2 about timing and the right fertilizers. When the corn is about 4 or 5 inches tall use a heavy heavy nitrogen fertilizer like blood meal, then mound/ hill the dirt around the base of the cornstalks mixing the ferts in. When they get about knee hight, do it again. Blood meal and hill. They need a lot of nitrogen over every other nutrient especially during the rapid growth stage. Do all that again around the time they start putting out tassels or if they are looking pale or not as vigorous as before.

  2. We live in Florida and have discovered a long sleeve sun protection shirt that is still cooling and quick dry. I can't remember the name of them. If I do, I'll post it. Garden looks amazing!!! Grief is a hard thing, but I've learned that it is healing to talk about my loved ones as often as possible. ❤❤ Blessings to you. 🙏🙏🙏🙏✝️✝️✝️

  3. Your Sister sounds like a wonderful person, she would be very proud of your homestead journey, celebrate her every time you pick a tomatillo and fix her white chicken chili. 🥰 Loved your garden tour!

  4. Thanks for showing us your garden and your plans for it. Sorry to hear you dealt with Melanoma. Back in 2005 my husband was diagnosed with stage 3 Melanoma; He went through two major surgeries to remove lymph nodes with clean margins, followed by a full year on chemo three times per week, with the first month being five days per week. All these years later, he still gets checked by a dermatologist at least twice a year. I've met many people who don't know that the body actually absorbs the cancerous spots. The best thing to do is to wear spf, wear hats with wide brims and stay protected, and don't spend long periods of time in the sun….just enjoy it from a shaded area. We still garden and grow our veggies but try to get things done before the high heat of the day takes hold.

  5. I love that you talk about your precious sister, I'm 55 and my sweet sister is 53 she was diagnosed with 4th stage lung cancer 2 years ago and she was in remission for 6 months and then it came back and had spread to her brain and liver, she is on hospice now😢 I know that the Lord has a plan for all of our lives and I trust Him❤ My husband was murdered 13 years ago, he was 43, they beat him and threw him into a well still alive, they poured kerosene on him and tried to burn him😢 he was missing for a day and a half and I found him…I've never stopped mourning, I have nightmares of him screaming for my help😢 I know I will be with him again one sweet day❤ I wrote all of this to say that Jesus understands our pain and grief and I pray that He comforts you through yours❤

  6. I think for us it’s flea beetles that chew up the eggplants. They’ll eventually out pace the pests or you can use Spinosad, which is an organic option to stop them.

  7. Kristyn would be so happy for you! Is healing to talk about her and I loved watching the smiles and felt the love you have for her. Thank you for your video and I love your hat❤️

  8. Lisa it must be hard to speak of your sister but it is such a touching story and I appreciate that you have shared it with your community on here. I believe she’s with you and yes you’ll be together again. God bless you always!
