  1. Oh, dear James, you and Tuck are so wonderful. There are other youtuber gardeners that I like to learn from, as well. But, you have such a lovely spirit that it's a special joy to watch and learn from you. Thank you.

  2. Zone 6b. Great minds think alike. I'll be planting Roma here and there. I think two stakes and lace string back and forth a few times giving a place for sucker support. You encourage us to think outside conventional wisdom. ❤ to Tuck. We will be using your pruning method again for our cucumbers. Thanks so much James.

  3. hey james, thanks for the video:) my food area almost done, lot of work. question…. what do you do with all that food? im single and thinking of giving a lot to neighbors.

Love all your videos and Tuck is so cute! For the bed that you made for the tomatoes with the trellis that is made from one board. Was the thickness of the wood (I did watch your video on how to build it) was the wood strong enough to hold the weight of all the tomatoes? I have many varieties of full sized heirloom tomatoe plants to put in the ground hopefully tomorrow. Can you please tell me what you used for the wood on the 1' bed? Through watching all your videos and hunting for the info, I found out the bed was 1' wide and 10' long. But are the sides made from 2" x 6" or 2" x 8" lumber (I don't think it is 2" x 4" wood.) or? I am in Zone 9 in Central California and I also have water well problems this year. So, until I get a new well, water has to be managed very carefully and conserved at all costs. I learned about using Ollas – an ancient form of watering that gives constant water to your plants using clay pots. While the clay pot Ollas are WAY TOO EXPENSIVE, I am considering doing the DIY Ollas using clay pots, either 1 pot, or 2 glued together. While I would love high raised beds (I am 69 yrs. young) I believe having a low bed this year as in your 1' tomato bed, will allow the plants to be in the ground and less prone to losing water. I will also mulch the top and add some companion plants as you have with the garlic. I like the easy access of your 1' wide bed, but I also would like 2 – 4' x 8' beds and I will be using the Sq. Ft. gardening method. My budget is VERY limited, but I will get the best "soil" for my plants that I can afford. I did find a source for bulk compost that is made near me. I am also interested in the many variations of wicking – self watering containers that would also conserve water. I have studied all of this extensively! I'd like to see you try these self-watering methods and the clay pots too. I keep meaning to look and see if you have a video on how you water everything, but I start watching another of your videos and have not gotten to it the past couple of weeks. 🙂 I really loved the 2 raised beds that you made from pallets, especially the one from only 1 pallet. I hope to try that too. Thank You and Tuck for all you do! Love it all! I just shared Tucks solo video with my local gardening group and another local group and recommended your site too. They loved Tuck! I got spring fever and I have about 25 heirloom tomato plants to plant! I've seen tomatoes guided over a hoop type trellis too.
