Two years ago, I made an ecosystem pond for my parents using a kit. That pond was fine, but it was quite small. Especially once they got goldfish. Even then, I knew I wanted to redo the entire thing to go larger.
This time, I took a DIY approach in hopes to create a beautiful pond on a budget. All things considered, I believe I did exactly that. Even so, there are additional ways to save as I explain in the video.
Anyway, join me as begin Pond Season 2023!

Starting off pond season right with a proper DIY pond! I’ve been working on this when I could for the past two weeks and I’m so happy to finally have it done. It doesn’t come across on video, but first it was hot, then cold, then it rained, snowed, hailed, etc. I nearly experienced every season in only 5 days lol! Anyway, you definitely can see a huge difference on video, but the in-person view is incomparable from the original. I’m so pleased with how it turned out, but I especially like the waterfall. What’s your favorite part? I can’t wait to see it grow with the fish swimming around in the water. I’ll share that in a future video of course. Until then, enjoy this one and have a great weekend SerpaSquad!
What about water lilies😢?
One of my life long dreams is to have a backyard outdoor pond. I'm 60 now. Live in a condo. But maybe one day I'll build a small indoor pond. Who knows, right? Or my life could change? We never know what the future actually holds. Gina Hetlage
I can't even imagine how much work this must have been between planning and the physical labor. It looks amazing! My favorite part is the log in the waterfall.
Ty for this, I've actually thought about putting a similar feature in my front yard I just have to worry about debris due to all the trees above
bro you gotta use trauma shears to cut that thick liner
did you say cedar is a hard wood?
$900 for rocks??
It's very beautiful… love this build!
budget……
thank you @SerpaDesign. I've been waiting for this. Only one question, if you do not mind: what should I do in the winter with it? (Take pump out, medial out or should I drain it too?)
Reason: temp goes below 0C* from October all the way to April hitting -26C* with lows or -37C* experienced.
Would much appreciate your opinion. (Hasn't started to build it yet… Planning and researching in progress)
yeah, personally, the first pond was more stone than pond, now, now it looks like a pond 🙂
its perfect x
Needs to be deeper.
Beautiful
Most of plants died off lol
I joined at the first pond, you’ve come a looong way!
How come you didn't use seam tape primer? I didn't use it once and it leaked.
This might be your best pond video yet. Amazing looking pond. Thanks for sharing so many details & insights around your build & thank you for sharing pricing!
Wow
An amazing build!! That split waterfall is absolutely stunning and I love how deep the basin looks. The fishies are gonna love it too!! Well done Tanner, well done 🤌🏻
nicely done but sadly not a solo build in 5 days as the base pond wasn't counted so expended pond in 5 days
This is awesome. Love the waterfall
🇳🇱🌷❣️👍
You are a talented person and it all looks good. Your use of PERFECTLY is annoying. try to expand your english and use the word sparingly !!
Your builds are so damn impressive.
What’s a good place to get large pond rocks like the ones you used?
That’s beautiful
I KNOW he didnt just call cedar a hardwood at 5:40
Awesome pond
What happens if rain?
Yes! I love your outdoor projects. Less than $2000 for that beautiful pond … well done.
Thought on solar power generation?

Sorry I have to ask why did you wear white vans when working on the pond
Good job!
dont like the foam but damn I think you made a great pond. Thanks for sharing.
Such a great video to watch, thank you!
Wow. You’re a really good son. Sending this to my son as a Mother’s Day hint 😂❤ absolutely beautiful!
Beautiful! Shows how much you've learned between the two builds!
In thirld word nations like mine you have to pay 1 euros/kg just for stones
Please do follow ups in spring and summer. Once grown in, it will be something special. Take care brother.
Love it 👍🏻
you should have collaborated with Team Aquascape they have amazing kits and such good people..,.. maybe on your next build.
