  1. OMG I know nothing about them and I planted them shallow like strawberries with strawberries! I'm going back and place soil mounds on them. Thank you so much!

  2. This is my 4th year for my asparagus. I do all the things you described except adding more compost on top in the early Spring. Would it be beneficial to do this in the late fall also? I do cover them with a nice thick layer of EZ straw (chopped straw that has no bad stuff) but never knew to add more compost or soil to it. Thanks for the info! I''ll have to wait I guess until next Spring because it's been coming on like gang busters for about 3 weeks now lol.. My 2 mini doxies also love the ends I trim off for a snack!

  3. I just planted asparagus from 4 inch pots ftom a garden centre in the fall.
    I guess that's all wrong

  4. Great video man I needed this information I just planted some this year from seed so well see keep growing bro

  5. Question: I planted small crowns last year, and have let all the new shoots fern out this year — is this year one or year two for me?

  6. I’m so glad that I saw this because I have asparagus to plant soon and I have never grown it so now I’m better prepared! Thanks! I’m a new subscriber and enjoy you and Tuck’s videos!

  7. Tuck sure loves his asparagus! I just started harvesting my first asparagus and planted more new crowns this year too.

  8. I always eat mine raw straight from the ground. I never cook it, it's too good. I also eat most of my snap peas the same way. I need to plant more I guess. 😁

  9. How do you keep the asparagus beetle off your asparagus without using insecticide? I've had the same wild asparagus plant outside my basement for over 32 years. It was there before I built my house. and came up again this spring.

  10. Thanks for your expertise! I will nurture my asparagus now! I started mine from seed about 6 years ago & they’ve done amazing considering they’re under my house eaves. I think they like the dryness and the heat against the house. We’re about zone 3 in Canada.

  11. I'm new here and my husband just got some asparagus starts. And I was worried I didn't know how to grow these. So now I know what to do. Thank you for the lesson. God bless

  12. Thanks for the tips. This is my second time trying to grow asparagus. I have some crowns and am also trying a variety from seed developed for my zone, 10. It is exciting to see the spears come up and frustrating to realize I have to wait a year or two before I can start sampling.

  13. hmm. ive never seen red berries on mine. I have a 4-5 year old Washington patch and my son has a 1-2 year one. What variety gets the red berry?

  14. Ive never cut the female spears when they seed and, consequently, have 'wild' asparagus all over my garden courtesy of birds
