  1. Hi Janey, thanks for the info on the milkweed regarding specific native types for each area, I'm going to watch your video. Last summer we had a few Monarchs visit our yard and we were ecstatic.
I'm so sorry to hear about Dwights passing, it's so hard to say good-bye to our beloved family pets. Right now I have our own kitty, Sox who is in her final days. She was my Mom's cat and we adopted her 11 yrs ago after my Mom passed away at 90.

  2. You want to trim the plant away from the street sign so you don't get in trouble if there is an accident. I am so sorry for your kitty. Very sad. Once the eggs are laid on your milkweed, you will need to add more and more when they eat all the leaves. I know people who had to keep up so the butterflies would have enough.

  3. What an adorable video of your dear Dwight. The loss of a pet is very difficult, I hope your girls are doing ok. The road crews along our major highway leave the milkweed to mature, which is so awesome! ๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ฆ

  4. I grow zucchini and yellow squash on a circular tomato cage, to minimize the space it takes up. More decorative obelisk trellises would work well too.

  5. So I should say Iโ€™m an experimenter not a gardener lol so true.. trial and error all over the place.. this experiment, that experiment lol๐Ÿ˜‚Janey these aphids are just out of control this spring! They are just everywhere! Happy 8th birthday! Aww Dwight was such a sweetieโค and serious about that mouse! ๐Ÿ˜‚

  6. Sending you hugs. So sorry for the loss of Dwight. Heโ€™s definitely a cutie and adorable. Thank you for sharing a video of him. Losing a pet is heartbreaking for sure. Love to you and the family. ๐Ÿˆ ๐Ÿ’— ๐ŸŒˆ

  7. I grow lots of different unique varieties from seed my favorite last year was the pink Berkley tie dye so good this year I have a lot of heirlooms lol

  8. Janey, I love your milkweed segment!! Also, please be sure you're purchasing "pesticide" free milkweed. Most big box stores have sprayed theirs with pesticides. Ask your local nursery for non pesticide milkweed.
My small space veggie garden has tomatoes, bell peppers, radishes, carrotts (had, cuz they all died, lol), banana beppers and onions. Im in Florida Zone 9b ๐Ÿ˜Š

  9. Add some more herbs. Mint and oregano always come back year after year but they will need to be in containers. Also, plant some flowers like marigolds.
So sorry to hear about your kitty. ๐Ÿ˜ข

  10. Janey my heart breaks for you and your family. I know how special Dwight was. Let all those special memories fill the empty space in your heart. Sending so much love and a big virtual hug your way ๐Ÿ’•

  11. ๐Ÿ˜ฟ๐Ÿ˜ฝ๐Ÿ˜ป๐Ÿ˜ฟ Dwight was a chatty cat! Guarding his prey like a good hunterโค. We lost our Calico Cannelle last year on June 1. She's now behind the Lilac Double White๐Ÿ’œ.
I hope I can find a dwarf tomato this year, and why not a dwarf zucchini! Roma did well for me last year, because it was a longer hotter summer than usual. I prefer determinate tomatoes and non-vining zucchini. I only grow those two crops. Can't wait to see how yours do.

  12. Iโ€™m so sorry for your loss. Orange kitties have the best personalities. I recently lost my August, so a truly feel the sadness your family must feel. Sending love!

  13. Hi Janey lynne here. Sorry about Dwight, itโ€™s so hard losing a pet. What about growing some rosemary and putting a cage around the zucchini so the vines go up.

  14. You have room for a pepper plant! A hot, sweet, banana, jalapeรฑo, it is your choice. ๐Ÿ™‚

  15. So sorry for the loss of your kitty Dwight. So very sad. As for your veggie garden, do you like either bell or jalapeรฑo peppers. They donโ€™t take up a lot of width in a garden.

  16. I tried a Patio Eggplant for the first time last year. They were delicious! Not very big, if I cut them into slices, it was about the size of a quarter. Very tender, not very seedy like the big ones. Started my own from seeds this year, can't wait for them to start producing.
Sorry about your fur baby, they really make a big impact on our lives.

  17. Nice work ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ you can separate the basil and potting them on the edges ๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿผ

  18. I have about 8 Milkweeds I started from seed and amazingly they are doing great. Let's hope they make it all the way. Nothing like an upcoming garden tour to keep you going.

  19. Happy Birthday Shay ๐ŸŽ‚! Flowers like alyssum and marigolds help deter pest on veggies? So sorry about your kitty.

  20. So sorry for your loss ๐Ÿ˜”
Happy Birthday to your daughter ๐Ÿฅณ excellent content ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿฝ

  21. My milkweed seeds itself and grows all over my property. I do get tons of monarch from them, in zone 9b. I pull them and put in pots and save them for friends and family. They take a lot of water it seems.

  22. my cats were going crazy when they heard Dwight meowing , so sorry i can't even imagine losing a cat ๐Ÿ™

  23. I am truly sorry for the loss of your beautiful kitty. He looked like such a sweetie. โค๏ธ. I think your vegetable garden is perfect, and maybe just needs a few nasturtiums and marigolds added for that cottage garden look.

  24. Why not plant your zucchini on a trellis? That would free up so much space in your garden

  25. I like the statement that you made Janey, โ€œgood gardeners just keep on trying,โ€ rather than giving up when plants โ€˜give us troubleโ€™ ๐Ÿ˜ฎ๐Ÿ˜ข Even though I have been gardening for many years, I still get a bit discouraged when my plants donโ€™t grow well or die, especially they have been grown from seed or cuttings. Yes – itโ€™s good to be positive and happy in our garden. ๐ŸŒพ๐Ÿชป๐ŸŒป๐Ÿƒ๐ŸŒฑ๐ŸŒณ๐Ÿ‘Œ

  26. Aww๐Ÿ˜ขso sorry for you all losing your gorgeous cat, Janey. Such a cute video of him. ๐Ÿˆ
