I am reconfiguring the planting area around our patio. I am utilizing a gated garden arbor I purchased for a bargain from a neighbor. I choose to try a new boxwood, Winter Gem. My Dwarf English Boxwood had a lot of die back last year and I haven’t seen it in any local nurseries this year. I want this area to be a formal hedged garden room. So in this video I am working on planting the “bones” and it will evolve over time.

Welcome to The Happy Place Garden in Snohomish Washington zone 8a. I am Melinda, a self taught gardener, my husband Derrick and I have been developing our 5 acre property ourselves. There wasn’t much here when we bought our home other than some large evergreen trees, stumps and tons and tons of blackberries. We have been working on the garden around the house, what we affectionately call the “pond project”, since 2010. I hope you enjoy watching how the project continues to evolve. That is an amazing arbor. I just looked it up and I want it.😅 How well constructed and sturdy would you say it really is and how heavy? I live here in Western Washington as well and all though we dont have harsh winters as many back east do my concern would be the wind. I love the old tarnished look so rust and a withered look over time isn't my concern just how long would it really last? You look like my kinda gal. I'm really into making my own topiarys and just bought more boxwoods for my yard. Going to check out your other videos. Thank you for sharing.❤
