The Kratky method is a passive hydroponic technique for growing plants suspended above a reservoir of nutrient-rich water. You could use a 5 gallon bucket with a lid for this. Add nutrient solution to the bucket till it touches the bottom of the plant roots leaving an air gap for the roots to breathe. Roots will uptake the nutrients while making sufficient air gap for plant roots. Monitor the nutrient level a top it up when necessary leaving enough air gap.
