I'm in my 50s and grew up in Mississippi. All my neighbors had purple martin gourd houses (there was always someone growing gourds and making things from them) My great grandmother had an old-fashioned well with a dipper made from a long-handled gourd. I used to love to visit so I could dip water into my cup with that gourd. lol A few yrs ago, I went to a craftsman fair and saw stunning pieces made from carved gourds. Lovely that you reminded me of all that. 😄
I struggle with spinach too! I got a little patch going this year but it seems like I have to plant a large area in order to get enough to use as more than an add-in. I want to play with gourds so much, but squash bugs are a nightmare 😭
My poor father gardens every year and every single year he has tried to grow zucchini and every single year he gets absolutely no zucchini 😂 he’s never gotten a single fruit, all the flowers just fall off
beware the cabbage worms, they love hiding in broccoli and cauliflower
