Backyard Garden

I doubled my backyard garden’s value in 1 year | Veggies, herbs, etc

I think this is such a fun experiment to do if you’re trying to justify the cost of gardening! Commit to tracking your garden harvests for the whole year to see what you would’ve paid if you bought everything from the store! Disclaimer: I only discussed the values for certain items in this video. I grew other things besides what I mentioned here.

  1. Thanks for the video, I just grow for fun myself, don't really care about the value. The value for me is the fun I have growing things!

  2. Wow!! We love watching all of your videos, but your experiment here was awesome. Not sure that I've seen many like this. Props and kudos to you for your gardening success. Especially so given your dollar savings. That, and your produce is home grown, local and tailored for your needs. Very well done…

  3. My favorite video of the year!! Loved the breakdown. It was cool to see which were the good investments versus a better store value. I'm curious about how much you spent on garden expenses, too, for comparison. (Unless you mentioned it in the video and I just can't remember it haha)

It seems like don't grow any/much fruit (unless you count tomatoes, which I don't haha). Obviously things that grow on trees are out, but have you considered strawberries? I have no idea if they suit your climate, but I just had the most delicious fresh strawberries last week, which made me think of it haha.

  4. Zone 6b here in Nova Scotia, Canada. Starting my tomatoes and peppers next week. Watching this is getting me excited for the new season. Loving your content so far! ๐Ÿ™‚

  5. It's my third year to try growing broccoli. Tastes great lots of shoots almost no head such a disappointing harvest. This year I am trying a hybrid seed hoping to find the magic formula
