What were the flowers? Marigolds?
So smart to use second hand glass vases! Never thought of that. It’s windy where I live so plastic just blows away.
Thanks for the vase suggestion, I keep a few old translucent plastic totes near my garden and have put them over tender plants when I thought it might get near frost. I'm on MD Eastern Shore, so we always have a breeze and water is always close, too! Do you have any other suggestions for Eastern Shore gardeners?
I’m in Canada, and fill a hot water bottle and bury it to warm the soil.
I put out some at the beginning of the month —- I covered them with clear plactic bottles (the bottoms cut off) — everyone is doing just fine got 6 tomatoes, 2 pepper, 2 cantaloupe, 1 watermellon —– had to go on a search for "BIGGER" clear plastic's everyone is starting to get much bigger! If it's gonna get below 45, at night, I put the caps on the bottles and take them off every day they're in the bright sun. This gives me some tomatoes before July. Probably going to try to keep them covered another 2 – 3 weeks if necessary, depending on night-time temp forcast.
