  1. Tip I picked up from Jess @Rootsandrefuge for stuck seed cases – moisten your thumb and first finger with saliva and hold them round the case for a few seconds. It contains an enzyme that quickly breaks down the casing and it slips right off usually. Really works!

  2. I just started to soil block. My conclusion is that some things work in soil blocks and others not and one of my problems is I ran out of space to pot them up so they have to stay in their blocks. And we don’t have warm temperatures here yet so I can’t move them to my cold frames yet. I’m zone 3.

  3. I like the 2" blocks. I don't mind making them. I have my rack in my bedroom so it's easy to to keep them watered. I don't use too many of the minis out in the greenhouse because it gets hotter.

As for the roots I just tear them apart, and I haven't had any issues. Thankfully I haven't had any algae issues.

I usually push the seeds down into the soil unless they need light. I love mine. And really it's the only way I can grow so many flowers and plants it's no an option for me to go back.

  4. Just started soil blocking and I have a 1.5" blocker. It seems good for some things but I think the flowers need the small blocker like you have. That would save space for me. Thought I'd try the bigger one first.
