  1. the station was just under construction for the last 12 years….. This will never happen.

  2. Climate alarmism is causing much of the economic downturn.

  3. I was in the Moynihan Train Hall about an hour after it opened to the public on January 1, 2021. There were already several homeless people sleeping in the hallways, even though this was in the middle of the pandemic, when there was housing available to them in hotels. It's tough to improve public works in the city when you've got tens of thousands of people who will literally shit on and in whatever you do (maybe we should be putting this money into decreasing the number of people completely neglected by society before we start working on vanity/cosmetic projects).

  4. 8:00 How exactly would they do this thru-running method unless they built a second tunnel or bridge between NY and NJ? Trains have to go in reverse because there’s only one way in and out.

  5. I have watched you since WAY back now (my husband died week before last and I’ve been reminiscing) him and I, being a gay couple… we sorta turned the YouTubers that we constantly watched our family because you all were there with through so much … and Simon you were easily one of th first we found and I find myself wanting to say something only realizing you have no idea who we are …. So now I’m sitting here on my birthday and I needed something to occupy my mind so I decided to write this anyhow to let you know that John suddenly died and Joey is trying to manage… thanks for all of your hard work and amazing times you spent entertaining and teaching us!

  6. I've traveled out of NYC and through this station so many times, and it just crushes my heart to see how beautiful the original terminal was, and how the US never pushes to preserve anything. Modern architecture is beautiful, but it never has the artistry of the classics

  7. Has Samuel Turvey ever been to London. If he had I think he'd find the major stations are terminus stations. Cross rail then links some of those stations together but theres no through running of tracks.

  8. That place is bull$h:+ since regular ppl are not allowed to sit anywhere. They just want ppl to take pictures and leave.

  9. There is no way in hell this is happening any time soon. Dolan will fight the city, and the city will bow to him instead of risking losing the Knicks and Rangers out of Manhattan. Also, they just invested a billion dollars 10 years ago to renovate it. For anybody who thinks this has a snowball's chance in hell of happening I have a bridge in Alaska to sell you.

  10. Wasting money again. NYC has so many needs but lets build another ugly new building because we demolished a beautiful one.

  11. I would stay away from MASTERWORKS. I can't fully say why, but I have been behind the curtain.

  12. When the wrecking ball hits Madison Square Gardner I want to be in New York to celebrate its destruction. Rebuild the old style. No more MSG. The city of state should not be allowed to destroy private property around the station area. No right to just take people's property. I think its part of a crooked deal.

  13. Humans are evolving. Through EXTREMELY slow, but we are actually evolving.
Think about it. With automated vehicles driving people around that was jump started by Tesla. Then robotics for automation in factories are producing things much faster & better.
Not to mention more accurately. Then we have AI in the mix. More people are going to be working from home. Its said that by 2030 around 70% of the population will be working from home.
and by 2050 most if not all people will be working from home.
Which means office space will no longer be needed, corporations will billions of dollars per year on corporate rentals, electricity, phone and corporate internet service.
Not to mention property insurance and everything else in between like office furniture, office products and even cleaners and security personnel.
None of that will no longer be needed as people will work from home. It will be the norm.

Most buildings in the city will eventually be converted into apartments by the year 2080. While the rest will just be for entertainment and restaurants.
By 2100 those of us today will be long gone from this earth. But Mars would have a population of at least 10-Million people. Traveling to Mars one way trip will be around $10-grand.
Any vehicles that uses combustion will be considered ancient technology, the same as humans view 8-Track cassette tapes today in 2023.
Logging in with passwords will no longer exist. Bio-metrics will be the norm with a camera and sensor that will detect the person trying to log in preventing hackers and scammers
    from accessing other peoples accounts.
Quantum computing will be the norm in 2100 in every household. As the current computers we operate today will seem like children's toys in 2100.

Maybe in 2200 people will start to do body modifications with technology.
Meaning, you wont be carrying around a cell phone any more, as you just embed a chip next to your ear that humans use as communication device aka new future cell phones.

Do this and you'll see what I am talking about and what I am trying to convey. Just a little homework (for science) 😂👀
Search NYC times square picture in Google from the exact year of 1900 then search same picture incrementing it by 10 years til this day.
Then see in 20 pictures the progression humans have made. and watch how fast it speeds up, in the late 1900's and early 2000's.
Now imagine how much faster evolution will happen over the next 100 years. 👀

  14. While I'm a huge fan of Amtrak, public transit and upgrading Penn, MSG needs to find a way to be integrated into this plan as well! Hopefully all sides can come to some type of agreement and get this done!

  15. I stayed in New York for the first time in 2016 and we stayed at the Pennsylvania Hotel, just across the station. You know what's funny ? I didn't even notice there was a station here for a few DAYS. I was literally sleeping here, taking the subway at Penn Station and I didn't know it was a train station, I just got lost on my way out of the subway and realised it was actually a whole train hub underground and it was soooo awfully ugly, crowded and really terrible overall. "Form follows function" my *ss, they ruined the building so much that it doesn't even look like anything. Modern architecture really sucks sometimes. I really hope they rebuild the old Penn Station.

  16. I think the biggest opportunity in Manhattan, aside from a blanket upzone across the whole island, is the removal of the FDR expressway from the perimeter and returning the shoreline to New Yorkers, replacing the freeway with a surface boulevard, as well as producing a large quantity of incredibly-valuable land for redevelopment of parks and recreational facilities. Facilitating access to the East and Hudson Rivers would promote the construction of more piers around the island, potentially allowing development of small-footprint low-rise buildings.

Outside of Manhattan, similar replacement of the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway would improve quality of life by a great extent, and allow large-scale development of parks. With Downtown Brooklyn and Long Island City demonstrating the rise of "Downtowns" outside of Manhattan, it remains only for the South Bronx to occupy a similar role in its own borough, thought equity projects through subsidized low-income housing are a must, while increasing the housing supply and amenities to Bronx residents.

Maybe in 50 years, I can hope for Northern Staten Island to get with the program, lol.

  17. The only good thing that came from the demolition of the old station is the creation of the New York City Landmark Commission – an agency that protects New York's historic buildings. The agency saved Grand Central from demolition in the early 70s – a process that went to the supreme court.

  18. Tear down MSG. Rebuild the original Penn Station.

They did it in Dresden (the Frauenkirche church). Architects will betch and moan but no one likes their new glass trapezoids anyway. New Yorkers deserve the return of a civic artwork that was wrongfully stolen from them 60 years ago.

  19. My son is the director of the First Class lounge at Monihan Hall and the construction is going to be a nightmare.

  20. And are they going to rebuild the RR tunnels under the Hudson before they collapse and kill somebody. They are pretty much the original 1910 construction.

  21. The only way to build the new station on time and under budget is to get the Chinese to build it for you.
