If I may suggest: use a drop of dishwashing liquid on each stainless steel screw before screwing, it will prevent breaking.
Should've used the framing nailer again! 😂
Great information for the beginners.
Bill
Thanks for the tip, Jon! 😊
That's what I always do as well!
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Great tip Jon & it's something that I have always done. 👍👍🔨🔨
It took me about fifty years to learn to drill pilot holes consistently.
And since we’re aiming at beginners here: Start every job with a piece of paper and a pencil in your pocket. That’s for the list of stuff you’re going to get at Home Depot at noon when you break for lunch. You will always need to go to Home Depot. The time you think you save by using the wrong part or tool will vanish at 4pm when you have to undo the work and THEN go to Home Depot.
First time viewer here. When you predrill Ed for the screw, are you predrilling for the entire depth of the screw?
Jon, I'm reminded of when I first started watching your channel. It was just these kinds of tips that, as a beginner, I appreciated so much. Back then, it seemed like we all rooted when you broke 100K subscribers. My, My, look at that subscriber number now! Congratulations.
Fantastic advice and video.
Try a pilot hole
Thanks Jon. Watching from Nashville, on our way back home to Iowa. Found a great exotic hardwood dealer in St. Pete, FL. unreal. Thumbs up. Talk to you soon.
The way it should be done, period! Shortcuts need not apply! Hope You and Yours have a Happy Easter, Jon, as well as the Community.
Thanks Jon, good tip.
Amateur here. I apply wax to long screws before screwing them in. I heard that toilet ring wax is the best. So I bought a ring from a bigbox store, melted it in a double-boiler, and poured the liquified wax into into a tall (but not too tall) glass vial having an airtight screw lid, where it solidified.
I love this: taking shortcuts to save time will end up costing you more time (and money) in the long run. Do it right the first time. Great video! 👍🏼
Stainless steel is actually so hard that it makes it easy to break
Throw that P2 bit on a ½ Pneumatic impact and send'er-home the self penetration way 😉
Dammm you look like actor liam neeson😅 u even sound like him dude 😅swear a God
thanks
Jon these tips are very good for those DIY heads out there especially off the grid Alaska.Happy Easter to you and all your family.
Why would you need to use big expensive screws when it is not needed money to burn.Trump supporter for sure 🇬🇧
Question, if I have a screw of 6 diameter which diameter of drill bit should I use?
I'm from algeria.i followed a lot of your videos 'i didn't have any idea about wood.but now I have a small shop .all my works are belong to your ideas (sorry about my bad language) thank you John thank you very much
