This 10 Foot Pipe Will Make or Break Our Plumbing… Here’s Why

  1. I'm with you on the sub's leaving trash. We would always get an a$$ chewing if we didn't do our housework on commercial sites. Just had a shop put up and the concrete guys left trash everywhere including making a fire when the sun went down to stay warm (Mid-january and cold) and left all their burnt trash and melted water bottles. Then the shop guys came and left trash everywhere. Doesn't even make sense to me. Put the trash can out by the shop after day one and they threw their stuff away after that. Hauling your lunch and snack garbage away with you just seems so common sense to me!!

  2. Is this building where you should install the UFER? That would get placed before you put down the vapor barrier.

  3. Dude, making $200 last for three nights? That's most certainly a win!

I'm usually accustomed to performing hydrostatic tests with a pump. It's interesting seeing a hydro that literally fits its name (standing water).

Wouldn't be bad to come back through with a sheep's foot or jumping jack to reconsolidate the soil.

I wonder if sleeving the pipe allows for the presence of a tell-tale drain in order to show the presence of leakage under pressure. This is fairly common in steam systems.

  4. When setting expectations on speed of the job realize that man hours don't really change unless you are using speed multiplier technology. The amount of men working the job can so the plumbers were fast but it still was roughly 18 man hours of work.

  5. Hey Stud Pack,
    Really missed you guys!
I thought you lost all your money in Las Vegas and had to hitch hike home.
    Another great video…welcome back.

  6. I might have missed it, but is that code to use 2 45's instead of a 90? I've always seen 90's used but its usually in reno's where you are fighting for room to run the lines.

  7. I hope you guys are making some plans to go with solar just in case of rolling blackouts or scheduled outages. Also for when storms hit and you may need some backup power. A safe spot for the batteries and inverters to be placed would be a good idea. That way if the power goes out you don't have to worry about gas shortages or road obstructions when you need to fuel a generator. A solar backup could help a lot. We are hoping to get something like that out here.
I was wondering why there were no videos for so long but I do understand you guys are busy and I want you guys to get stuff done. The trip to Vegas looked cool. I hope you have some more footage for that. Halo lighting looks cool. I want to get some of those for above the showers in my house. I'll need to figure out where to add the control switches or if they can have remote controls that can mount to the wall.
For the toilet, you might consider a Culwell floor protecting flange. Might have to find it on ebay or somewhere other than Amazon bc their prices are insane. Might need a P3 version if you're going with 3" pipe. With a Toto Drake or Toto Entrada it should work nicely.
Mission hub? 4 straps on water side 2 on cleanout side. That is interesting and good to know.
I sometimes see some type of gravel put around underground pipes that go through dirt.

  8. Imagine all the man hours required to hunt down and stack up all that straight dimensional lumber from HD.

  9. why an old man keeps saying yes sir for another old man all the time? so boring, so passive.

  10. I think you got a hold of a great plumber. Keep that connection. I’ve found if have a good sub, he has contacts with other good subs. Thanks S.P. Another video in the books. And WOW….. pushing 500k

  11. I wouldnt use emt as a support stake, its hollow and shouldnt rise above grade as it creates a void in the concrete, plumbers should have use some #4 rebar. Nevertheless, gonna be a nice project.

  12. not true, not the only way. They could have used 4 inch slip repair couplings and glued them in place but theyre a pain in the butt to use and cant be repositioned later. They could have put 2 inch larger size non perforated landscaping corrougated pipe over the PVC pipe in the areas that go through concrete beam ditches to protect it from breakage from foundation shifting / settling and wrapped all PVC plumbing with 6mil poly aheeting where PVC rises up through slab so settling foundation cant pull down on PVC and cause it to have backfall or break it. This also makes for easier foundation plumbing repairs when there is a problem later

  13. What about an antibackflow device to protect against sewer backup ? My house in another country 🇵🇭 has 3 of them, they're Oatly

  14. You guys don't need to promise any constancy in uploads as long as the content remains good and authentic 💪

  15. If you gotta sleeve you might be able to pull the line back out if it should fail somehow. We had an oak tree discover the nutrient-dense source of water that was our sewer line. The steep hill in the front yard enabled the plumbers to only jackhammer a small area where the drains went into the slab and push a pvc pipe through the old clay pipe and clay soil from out front then connect to that with the drains. Unfortunately, we pulling up all the wood tile because we were sure that they were going to jackhammer all the way across the slab

  16. Nobody likes dirty subcontractors. Picking up after yourself maintains a clean and professional appearance on most sites. Those guys are respectable. Glad you guys are getting it in!!

  17. I love you guys, you're the greatest! Paul, you seem like a very loving, doting father and it's a joy to see how you and Jordan interact so well on these videos. The fact that I learn a lot from your videos is an added bonus. I can see that in the not too distant future you and Jordan will have your own TV show.

  18. I don't know about down there but up here in michigan where we have 14 seasons you sleeve pipes running through concrete beams because of thermal expansion and contraction concrete steel and pvc expand and contract at different rates so in order to prevent the pvc pipe from cracking you would sleeve it to leave room for it to expand and contract separately from the concrete it also leaves room for settling because everyone knows that your outside walls where all the load is will settle faster than the interior beams (where only a portion of the load is) will

  19. Suggestion: Use yellow Stego as a vapor barrier, especially with a living space above.. it comes in different thickness’s, I used 15 mill, you might also want to tape any seams with the special tape they have. If your going to paint or epoxy coat the garage floor, this will keep moisture from coming up and causing the paint/epoxy to delaminate.. Nows is also a good time to add the french drain, or possible insulation before concreting the floor.. Foamular 250 is 2.5” rigid 4’ x 8’ R10 insulation, works well.

  20. Wow. So much to building a house. If I could do it all over again, I would have become an all in one builder. Since I can’t, I’ll continue being a retired military man. Retired at 48 and proud of it. Ok ready for your next video 👊👍

  21. Kinda strange you had to update your plans to the latest code after approval? I guess it doesn't hurt to have a more up-to-date house if you're starting from zero anyways. Here in EU an announcement of updating of codes usually gives an impulse to the industry because a lot of people who thought about doing a build or reno then decide to get permissions quickly so they don't have to meet the new code, which then gives them a couple of years time to get everything arranged and executed, often adapting a lot of stuff of the new code anyways during the build.

  22. In addition to the sleeve, there are spacers to keep the pipe centered in the sleeve. This allows the pipe to be removed and replaced. We do this when a building has to go over a line. but the sleeve usually goes the length of the building, not just through the grade beams.

  23. Already watched this one, but I had to tell you. (You probably know this by now).
When I search "STU….", Stud Pack is the very first suggestion that comes up.
    Congrats!
You guys are awesome & we look forward to the next great video!
SMASH THAT GET'R DONE BUTTON FELLA'S!!

(I gotta go finish watching the one I already watched).

  24. I love the idea of filling the pipes with water and having a ten foot tube create pressure to check for leaks. I've never seen it done that way here in Oregon. I've done a few plumbing jobs in my house but nothing that new so it's neat to see how things have evolved!

  25. Great video.!! Thanks for taking the time to explain what the plumbers did while they were still there. Its so rare to watch a construction video that includes the professionals. I also noticed the change you made ( I think it was a comment) in having both of you together in frame while recapping at the end. Great Job and I wish you both all the success in the world. Keep it up!!

  26. I would have asked the plumber if they could have extended the 3" pipe outside and put a clean out on that end of the building.

  27. Seeing the Vegas Strip, I've been to Vegas at least a half dozen times for overnight or longer, over the decades, and have driven through Vegas at least that many times, but I've never been to the strip.

This used to be true; don't know if it still is or not, but Las Vegas had more bookstores of all kinds per capita than any other place I've ever been to. I've lived in Los Angeles, Philadelphia, Orlando, San Diego, Oceanside (CA), Tulsa, and Ventura for multiple years each, and in Houston for a year, and I don't remember any place that had as many bookstores as Vegas. And I'm not talking about dirty bookstores, you pervs. Although I'm sure there were their fair share.

There's a lot to see and do in Vegas outside the Strip, and the people are pretty awesome, too.

  28. Nuttin like takin forever.
    Holy gees..
    What a process..
    This has been months.
And your not any closer.yikes..hopefullyvyour framers are quicker and faster.
    Then plumbers and electricians Again.
You won't hang a piece of sheet rock until September…Seems like forever project for sure.
