  1. I live in SW Idaho and my climate is extremely arid, opposite of yours, I guess. If this valley was not irrigated, it would mostly only grow sagebrush and sparse grasses. Fortunately, we do have irrigation water from the snowmelt in the mountains that is stored in huge reservoirs. The upside of living in a high desert is we don’t have blight on our tomatoes and few fungal diseases and not as many bugs to deal with. Listening to all you have to deal with makes me thankful that gardening here is easier in that respect. Keeping things watered enough so they don’t die is another story, lol! This year I am planning to use shade cloth on my broccoli so it will form nice heads.
I have a huge high tunnel, but I can’t use it very much because it gets too cold in the winter and extremely hot in the summer, even with fans, rolled up sides, a door and a shade cloth. It will prolong the season for a bit, but not enough to make it work for me and I don’t want to pay to have it heated. Our seasons just change so rapidly around here. This last week it started out with highs in the 40s, then each day it got 10 degrees hotter for the high, so tomorrow it will be 80. That’s a crazy rise in temperature in five days. So, we are fortunate to have fewer problems in some ways, but you are fortunate to have fewer other problems. Gardening is always worth it, but it’s challenging!

  2. OR on the hoops see if they would ship because I am also interested because I got come off Amazon and they are cheap and only 1' long and you have to put them together and the little silver thing that attaches them keeps falling off. UGHHHH
TIP: the conduit pipe doesn't get brittle like the PVC pipe does so it holds up better in the heat and will last longer and not get brittle like the PVC pipe.

  3. Green beans just because 5hat is what i do best all. In Michigan I have to put lefy in the shade ,and green beans cause they do so good.

  4. I'll try for the rods locally. BUT> what size netting do you get? I see amazon has diff. sizes. Help!!!!! Need the size that goes over rods like yours. 🤔

  5. Perpetual spinach tolerate both subtropic and cool climate,
Egyptian spinach tolerate heat well, too. 🌱😊

  6. Did you know some one is posting old videos of your husband and your life looking to blame you . It is coming up on this notifacationsfor this channel. I don’t open them any more. ❤

  7. Kang Kong – Chinese watercress tolerate temperatures over 100 F but not under 60 F…

  8. Asparagus right out of the garden I think are the BEST fresh picked veggie eaten RAW! They're AMAZING!!!

  9. Just watching the replay. I hate I missed it, but I started growing shishitos because Jess always talked about them. My husband loves them, both blistered, fermented, and pickled. We live in central NC between Raleigh and Fayetteville. Our fig tree is amazing every year. I pray you have the best of luck with that. Fresh figs are the best. We lived here for 10 years before I actually tried one. I thought they would taste like fig newtons. Oh, I was so wrong. They are so much better!!

  10. Wish I had been able to catch this live. My favorite right now are loofas. My overall favorite ate tomato’s. But I just can’t grow them in Fl. Just not worth the effort. I get very little fruit and yucky plants.

  11. I have no idea how you are going to mow your yard with all you have on your shoulders! Come summer it has to be mown every week. You poor thing. Prayers

  12. Bri. Use pound in T poles. Then run heavy poly fishing line around them. No one will see it. Including deer and birds and rabbits. They bump into it and back right off.

  13. Hi bri. Just love your videos. I have been watching for a couple of years now. You have a beautiful family. You said you work night. What kind of work do you do ?

  14. I was out in the garden while listening to the replay of this. 😊 I know you said at some point you don't like saying the comments out loud. But, it helps for those of us that are listening, like a podcast and not watching. Just thought I would point that out. I love your will. My God continue to give you the strength to be bold and mighty. 💜

  15. Just FYI, Seven Springs Farm Supply online store has 50 – 8' garden hoops ("row cover supports") for $106.60. With flat rate shipping to NC of $39.00, it comes to about $2.91 a piece. Of course, there will be taxes as well, but it will be around $3 a piece or so total.

  16. Bri, your twins are miserable with seasonal hay fever/ sinus/allergies which makes them weary with headaches, runny/stopped up nasal passages. Check with pediatrician regarding infant/toddler antihistamines & dose, or maybe a baby aspirin for discomfort. Most modern parents use organic replacements. Seek MD’s advice.

The little ones need more quiet rest time, less outdoors & dim indoor lighting til symptoms subside.

A cool soothing bath with a gentle lotion massage & a quiet nap is refreshing.

  17. Here in the Pacific Northwest, a lot of gardeners will build a fence that’s tall, but see-through all the way around their gardens.. I know it would be costly, but if you got tall cattle panels, it might deter the animals from getting in if you were to do that.
