Container Gardening

First Garden Update of the Season!

I filmed this on Sunday 2 April, but on the date of broadcast I’ll be in Arkansas visiting family. I wanted to show you what’s growing and where – and a few new exciting things are blossoming this year!

  1. I was thinking about you and your family there in Ark a lot while we were having those tornado storms. So glad all are fine. We had a flash freeze in December that got us down to minus 4 degrees F, with a wind chill of minus 19 degrees F. I'm in zone 6b/7a, so needless to say, I lost almost all of my perennials with that and am having to start all over with them. Earlier this week I did open up my winter sowing jugs that had my brassicas and lettuces in them and they're ready to plant out when it stops raining. I'd ordered 6 Elderberry cuttings and have had them in water to grow roots. They'll be interesting to watch and see what happens. One plant at a time. Enjoy your time with your family and have a safe trip back home.

  2. I'm sorry to hear about the damage in your hometown and those that lost their lives, I am glad all of your family are safe. I hope you're having good quality time with your family. We sowed pickling cucumbers 3 days ago and we are so excited because they have come up this morning and looking very strong. Safe journey home.
