  1. I would give the 434 a general mechanical and cosmetic tidy up eg fix all the oil leaks and brakes fit new mudguards and get a body shop to straighten out the bonnet it wouldn't cost a fortune and you could use her for the gallops etc

  2. I think you should thst Tractor as it is , memories & character are what make it now on the farm so stick with it 👍👍👍

  3. Fantastic Video Olly 👍 I think eventually you should get it Restored. It's definitely worth saving its an amazing tractor 🚜 Its always special owning a vehicle which has its own story especially when it has sentimental value

  4. Another great video Olly it's tough for farmers I wish you well and look forward to seeing some new machines, thanks 😊

  5. Hi Olly great video once again, I liked the story about the 434 you could say it was a “crashing” story.😂 sorry about the pun anyway great video.

  6. If you don't need to make different sized bales then stay away from variable chamber, tend to be temperamental.

  7. I hope to be able to, start the chain harrowing some time next week it's all about the weather here in Cornwall.

  8. For own silage baling buy a kuhn bio they not alot slower plus all is wrapped as u go better bales as no air

  9. Get a secondhand fusion be far more reliable than a John Deere baler, fusion 2 would be around 20thousand and no need for a wrapper, just cut your land in 15 acre blocks around 100 bales and bale in morning lug in afternoon,

  10. We had a JD 960 round baler, great baler, never went wrong for us, just make sure at the start of the season you shine up the metal inside the baler otherwise it grips and catches between the knife and the roller and jams up. We used to run it through some old course hay to shine it up

  11. Give the 434 a good steam clean and then wax oil it. That’ll keep it nice, then mechanically get it running sweet

  12. I don’t think i would have the 434 fully refurbished if I’m honest. I think I’d have the leaks fixed and that’s about it. All those dings on the front end are memories like you say and you can always have a laugh at them as you get older. There will probably come the time when you have kids that want to learn to drive. The 434 will be the perfect first step for them too. 👍🏻

  13. Whatever you do don’t buy a John Deere balers you’ll give more time stuck under covers trying to fix it than baling.

  14. Good video I would keep the tractor as it is fool of a lot of memories @ characters are what make it 👍👍👍👍

  15. Olly mate. Nice video. Haha good to the old girl still runs. Unfortunate about her having trouble. Part of getting old as they say haha.
McHale is the most popular baler wrapper in NZ. Well worth it. Does a great job. Just has trouble in soft ground being of single axle even with the bigger tyres.
Welgers have trouble with doing a tight bale and can leave the quite loose. Dropping on there sides rather than there edges.
Kuhn/Massey Ferguson balers have really made inroads recently. Tandem axle, good bales.
Also New Holland baler has seem to have made a comeback.
What about Kubota/Kvernland continuous baler? You don’t stop baling or wrapping. Can wait to see one in our area they are coming. Very expensive though.

  16. Mchale baler first, MF baler second John Deere Third place I run 3 round bales Got 1 Mchale V660 and 2 welger 435 balers mchale has the edge on the Welger! Had John Deere balers in the past never again!

  17. we run 3 John Deere balers over here in nz, including the 960. can't fault it. makes beautiful square edged, tight bale. Makes 200kg heavier bale than McHale and 80% density. Also a lot quicker with the curtain door. Personally I don't think its viable buying a baler for just yourself unless your thinking of doing some contracting work with it. maybe if you make 2k-3k bales a year for yourself then it may be viable but they are a depreciating asset. plus maintenance on them, they sit a shed for half the year doing nothing. and ya can't just jump in one and go bale takes while to know the baler and how it works and sorting out problems yourself otherwise callout fees add up.
