  1. Besides obviously spraying to weaken roots a week or the prior… if your soil is acidic then lime will soggy up that top few inches, after a decent rain, if time allows for the scheduling.
I really enjoy that my RTR can build raised rows at its highest setting if I flatten paths for the feet.
I also like how at the highest setting I can scratch 2-inch ribs in the grass for lawn elevation adjustments that don't bald the yard. I've never used a forward rotation tiller.
On my RTR I can't hit large tree roots, it's a guaranteed snapped shear bolt.

  2. I've been tilling gardens and such for 30 years. New untilled ground always tills better when the vegetation is cut short and allowed to dry some until it is slightly damp. Let newly tilled soil sit in the sun for a day or two this will allow the soil around the roots to dry, after this, tilling again will break everything up nicely.

  3. Tilled up and planted some food plots this last weekend on my hunting and camping property. Only had two days to brush-hog mow, prep, till, plant, and drag harrow. Could not have done this without the tiller.
